Genesis Motor UK Partners with Ohme for Home EV Charging

Welcome, Net Zero News readers!
In an exciting development for electric vehicle enthusiasts and environmentally conscious consumers alike, Genesis Motor UK has officially announced its collaboration with Ohme, appointing the innovative charging solutions provider as its exclusive partner for home EV charging. This partnership marks a significant step forward in making electric vehicle ownership more accessible and convenient for customers of the luxurious South Korean car brand.
The collaboration will see Ohme supplying state-of-the-art EV chargers, alongside a comprehensive installation service and ongoing support package, all of which will be facilitated through the Genesis dealer network. This streamlined referral scheme is designed to simplify the transition to electric vehicle ownership, particularly in light of Genesis’s recently updated line-up of electric models.
At the core of Ohme’s offering is their dynamic EV charger, which harnesses real-time data from the energy grid. This technology ensures compatibility with some of the UK’s most affordable energy tariffs, making it easier for drivers to manage their charging costs effectively. The Ohme charger automatically adjusts its operation to optimise the cost of charging, allowing users to access the best times for the most sustainable and economical energy tariffs. Furthermore, the charger features a solar boost function, significantly reducing reliance on grid power by utilising renewable energy sources whenever possible.
For instance, fully charging a new Genesis GV60, which boasts an impressive 84kWh battery capable of a 348-mile WLTP range, could cost as little as £5.88 when using an Ohme unit on a dynamic EV tariff, such as Intelligent Octopus Go. This affordability is complemented by Ohme’s unique ability to offer drivers the option to charge their vehicles during peak periods of renewable energy generation on the national grid, further minimising their carbon footprint.
Ashley Andrew, the president and CEO of Genesis and Hyundai UK, expressed his enthusiasm for the new partnership, stating: “Ohme’s strong customer service ethos aligns with Genesis’ Son Nim customer-centric approach. As a result, we’re delighted to partner with Ohme for the benefit of our customers and our retailer network.” This sentiment underscores Genesis’s commitment to providing not only luxury vehicles but also a comprehensive and supportive ownership experience.
Peter McDonald, a director at Ohme, echoed this enthusiasm, adding: “We’re looking forward to bringing the Ohme benefits of easy charging and low running costs to Genesis customers. With Genesis refreshing its line-up of electric models this year, customers not only have an updated product range to choose from but access to all that Ohme can bring to their ownership experience.”
This partnership is poised to enhance the overall experience for Genesis customers, making the switch to electric vehicles not just a choice for the environment but a practical and cost-effective decision. With Ohme’s cutting-edge technology and Genesis’s commitment to luxury and customer satisfaction, the future of electric vehicle ownership is looking brighter than ever.
As we witness an increasing shift towards electrification in the automotive industry, partnerships like this one are crucial in fostering an environment where sustainable practices are not only encouraged but made easy and accessible for all drivers. The integration of smart technology into EV charging solutions will undoubtedly play a pivotal role in supporting the UK’s ambitious net-zero goals.
