Raw Charging Launches Free Week-Long Charging in South London

Greetings, Net Zero News Community,
In an exciting development for electric vehicle enthusiasts and commuters alike, Raw Charging is thrilled to announce the launch of its brand-new ultra-rapid EV charging hub in Forest Hill, South London. To celebrate this significant milestone, the company is offering a week of free charging, starting from Wednesday, 20th August.
Strategically located on Dartmouth Road, just a stone’s throw—approximately 200 metres—from Forest Hill Station, this flagship hub features an impressive 12 ultra-rapid EV charging bays. But it’s not just about charging; the site promises a remarkable hospitality experience, setting a new standard for convenience and comfort.
The hub has been developed by Hubber, a specialist real estate and infrastructure platform founded by a team of former Tesla employees. Hubber is dedicated to transforming underutilised urban properties into cutting-edge high-powered charging stations, effectively removing barriers that often hinder the deployment of charging points and catering to commercial fleets.
Situated at the heart of one of Southeast London’s busiest commuter corridors, this new hub is a vital piece of infrastructure for the 26% of Londoners who rely on cars for their daily commute. The charging capabilities include three units operating at 150kW and three at 300kW, allowing for ultra-rapid charging and accommodating up to 12 vehicles simultaneously. One of the bays is designated as a priority bay, ideal for rapid turnaround and high-volume usage, catering to the needs of busy drivers on the go.
Adding to the appeal of the site, visitors can enjoy the Dartmouth Arms, Meatliquor’s exclusive pub, where the first 25 drivers each day will receive vouchers redeemable for delicious offerings from Meatliquor. This unique combination of high-powered charging and a lively hospitality atmosphere is sure to enhance the charging experience for EV drivers.
To kick off this exciting venture, Raw Charging invites all EV drivers to take advantage of the free charging period from Wednesday, 20th August, for a week, welcoming everyone to experience the state-of-the-art facilities at the new site.
This Forest Hill location marks the first of many Raw Rapid hubs that will be rolling out across key retail, leisure, and hospitality locations throughout London over the next 12 months, in collaboration with Hubber. This expansion aims to meet the rising demand for EV charging infrastructure and elevate the charging experience across the capital.
Neil Broadbank, Chief Commercial Officer at Raw Charging, shared his enthusiasm for the project, stating: “Thanks to Hubber and their dynamic approach, we’re unlocking the development and energisation of these sites in record time. This particular site has been acquired, developed, and constructed from start to finish in just nine months.”
He continued, “Raw Charging is catering to a very high demand from drivers, and we’re committed to enhancing the EV charging experience at retail, leisure, and hospitality destinations across the nation.”
Harry Fox, Co-founder and CEO of Hubber, echoed Broadbank’s sentiments, saying: “Large, high-powered hubs like Forest Hill play a vital role in enhancing London’s fast, reliable charging network. We’re proud to deliver this in partnership with Raw and look forward to the long-term benefits this collaboration will bring to drivers and the city.”
As we venture further into an era where electric vehicles are becoming an integral part of our daily lives, the establishment of such charging hubs is a crucial step towards creating a sustainable and accessible infrastructure for all EV users. The synergy between Raw Charging and Hubber exemplifies how innovative thinking and collaboration can pave the way for a greener future.
With the backdrop of increasing environmental awareness and a collective push towards net-zero emissions, initiatives like the Forest Hill charging hub represent not just an investment in infrastructure, but also a commitment to a sustainable future. By making electric vehicle charging more accessible, we are encouraging more drivers to make the switch from fossil fuel-powered vehicles, contributing to the reduction of carbon emissions and enhancing urban air quality.
In conclusion, the launch of the ultra-rapid EV charging hub in Forest Hill is more than just a new facility; it is a beacon of progress in our journey towards a sustainable future. As we celebrate this development, let us also look forward to the expansion of such initiatives that promise to make electric vehicle charging convenient, efficient, and enjoyable for all. Together, we are taking significant strides towards a cleaner, greener planet.
