Welsh Government Appoints Zemo to Drive Net-Zero Commercial Vehicle Transition

Welcome to Net Zero News, your daily briefing on the UK’s transition to a low‑carbon future.
The Welsh Government has appointed Zemo Partnership to spearhead a new two‑year programme to accelerate decarbonisation across the commercial vehicle sector and its supply chains in Wales. The initiative draws on earlier recommendations delivered by Zemo to the Welsh Government in March 2025 and formally launched on 21 November 2025.
Through this collaboration, Zemo will focus on turning strategic recommendations into tangible action. The programme will engage industry stakeholders, local authorities, fleet operators, and supply chain actors to implement targeted interventions that remove barriers to uptake of zero‑emission commercial vehicles, improve infrastructure readiness, and catalyse investment in greener technologies across Wales.
By acting as convenor, Zemo brings its expertise in road transport decarbonisation to bear in aligning policy, finance, and practical delivery. This approach promises to inform not only delivery models but also replication across UK regions, reinforcing the UK-wide ambition for transport net‑zero.
What this means:
The appointment of Zemo to lead this programme demonstrates clear intent from the Welsh Government to transition the commercial vehicle sector swiftly toward net‑zero. Zemo’s proven track record ensures that strategic insights are translated into delivery on the ground. Collaboration across stakeholders is likely to enhance infrastructure readiness, attract green investment, and provide a strong blueprint for decarbonising fleets across Wales and beyond.
