Net Zero News: FOR EV named CCS supplier in £20m net-zero funding

Welcome to Net Zero News, where we bring you the latest developments driving the UK’s transition to a net-zero future. Today, we examine FOR EV’s new role in supporting government procurement of transport technology.

Net Zero News can reveal that on 8 December 2025, EV charging solutions provider for fleets FOR EV was appointed as a supplier on Crown Commercial Service’s new Transport Technology Framework. The framework aims to streamline how public sector organisations procure electric vehicle charging and related transport technologies.

The Transport Technology Framework has been established by CCS to accelerate decarbonisation of fleet operations across the UK. It offers multiple lots covering hardware, software and installation services. FOR EV’s inclusion reflects its growing reputation in delivering end-to-end charging solutions tailored to fleet requirements.

In a significant step towards the UK’s net-zero goals, the framework will provide local authorities, emergency services and transport operators with pre-approved suppliers. This reduces procurement timescales and supports the rapid deployment of charging infrastructure critical to phasing out petrol and diesel vehicles by 2035.

Nationally, the UK is committed to achieving net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 and to a two-thirds reduction in transport emissions by 2030. Net Zero News understands this forms part of the government’s broader electric vehicle infrastructure strategy, which targets a tenfold increase in public chargers over the next decade.

FOR EV’s appointment matters because it brings proven fleet charging expertise into a centralised purchasing route. Fleets constitute one of the largest segments of road transport emissions, and efficient charging solutions are essential to meeting the zero-tailpipe-emission sales requirement from 2035.

By joining the CCS framework, FOR EV will support public sector bodies in deploying smart charging systems that manage grid demand and reduce operational costs. Expected outcomes include lower emissions, improved uptime for essential vehicles and enhanced integration of renewable energy sources.

Net Zero News understands that funding for the Transport Technology Framework has been secured through central government budgets allocated to the Department for Transport and managed by CCS. While exact investment figures for the framework have not been disclosed, the initiative forms part of the government’s multi-billion-pound commitment to EV infrastructure.

Private sector partners will include fleet operators and energy suppliers who will collaborate with FOR EV to deliver turnkey projects. These partnerships are vital to ensure installations meet local grid constraints and operational requirements.

This announcement sits within the broader policy context of the UK’s Transport Decarbonisation Plan and the Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Strategy. Both set out clear milestones for charging network expansion and aim to overcome barriers such as grid capacity and planning permissions.

Devolved administrations in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland have also published complementary strategies, emphasising the need for regional coordination. Net Zero News can reveal that CCS has engaged with these administrations to align the framework with local priorities and funding streams.

Communities stand to benefit through improved access to charging infrastructure, particularly in suburban and rural areas where public chargers are currently sparse. Industry stakeholders anticipate that streamlined procurement will drive down costs and foster innovation in smart charging technologies.

Challenges remain in scaling grid upgrades and securing suitable sites for rapid charger rollout. However, FOR EV’s proven track record in project delivery is expected to mitigate implementation risks and support workforce development in green construction and electrical services.

Looking ahead, suppliers on the Transport Technology Framework will begin accepting ‘call-off’ contracts from January 2026. CCS plans further guidance sessions for public sector buyers early in the new year, with initial installations scheduled to commence in spring 2026.
