KEBA & EO Charging secure UK EV funding in net-zero retrofit push

Welcome to Net Zero News, where we bring you the latest developments driving the UK’s transition to a net-zero future. In a significant step towards the UK’s net-zero goals, Net Zero News can reveal that Austrian charging specialist KEBA and UK-based EO Charging have formed a strategic partnership to deploy both AC and high-power DC charging infrastructure across European logistics and transport fleets, with the UK set to play a pivotal role in the rollout.

Earlier this month, KEBA and EO Charging announced that they will jointly deliver integrated charging solutions to fleet operators in key European markets, including the UK. The collaboration brings together KEBA’s proven charging hardware and EO Charging’s market-leading software and installation expertise. Initial deployments are scheduled to begin in early 2026 at major distribution centres and port facilities around the UK coastline, supporting both long-haul and last-mile electric vehicles.

Under the agreement, KEBA will supply its flagship KeContact P30 AC chargers and forthcoming DC fast-chargers capable of up to 150kW. These units feature dynamic load balancing, advanced diagnostics and compatibility with all major vehicle manufacturers. EO Charging will handle project design, site surveys, grid connection management and installation services, as well as provide its proprietary ChargeFlow software platform to monitor and optimise energy usage in real time.

This partnership underscores the critical role of integrated charging infrastructure in meeting the UK’s target of net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 and the interim goal of reducing transport emissions by 20 per cent by 2030. By equipping logistic fleets with reliable, scalable charging solutions, operators can transition more rapidly from diesel to electric vehicles, cutting carbon dioxide emissions and improving air quality in urban areas.

The environmental benefits are complemented by economic advantages, as fleet electrification is projected to deliver operational savings of up to 30 per cent compared with conventional vehicles. KEBA and EO Charging estimate that their combined solution will reduce annual CO₂ emissions by approximately 2,500 tonnes per large fleet site, and could support up to 5,000 full-charge sessions per month at high-demand locations.

Funding for the UK installations will come through a mix of private investment and public programmes, including the Department for Transport’s Zero Emission Fleet Regional Infrastructure Fund. Net Zero News understands that initial capital expenditure of around £3 million will be invested in the first phase, covering hardware procurement, civil works and grid upgrades. EO Charging will lead delivery in partnership with local electrical contractors and network operators, while KEBA handles manufacturing and quality assurance.

This initiative aligns with the UK government’s Transport Decarbonisation Plan and the Energy Security Strategy, which emphasise acceleration of EV infrastructure across strategic freight corridors and urban hubs. It also supports the Office for Zero Emission Vehicles’ ambitions to grow the domestic charging network and enhance grid resilience through smart charging technologies.

Communities around major logistics centres stand to benefit from reduced noise and air pollution as silent electric trucks replace diesel counterparts. The partnership also creates new jobs in installation, maintenance and monitoring services, advancing the government’s plan to develop a skilled green workforce. In addition, the data-driven approach of EO Charging’s platform enables operators to participate in demand-side response programmes, further stabilising local energy grids.

Looking ahead, KEBA and EO Charging plan to expand their collaboration into software-enhanced predictive maintenance and vehicle-to-grid capabilities. Over the next 18 months, both companies will evaluate pilot projects in London, Manchester and the Port of Liverpool, aiming to complete at least ten UK sites by mid-2027.
