Free Charging at Raw Charging’s Biggest Ultra-Rapid EV Hub in Dagenham

Welcome, Net Zero News readers,

In a significant leap towards sustainable transportation, Raw Charging has unveiled an impressive ultra-rapid electric vehicle (EV) charging hub at Merrielands Retail Park, located in the bustling heart of Dagenham, East London. This venture, realised in collaboration with Aviva Investors, marks a pivotal moment in the enhancement of EV infrastructure across the UK.

The newly established hub boasts a remarkable array of charging options, featuring both 150kW and 300kW DC bays. With a total of eight charging bays—six capable of delivering up to 150kW DC speeds and two offering a staggering 300kW—this facility positions itself as a vital resource for drivers seeking quick and efficient charging solutions.

In a bid to celebrate the grand opening, Raw Charging is generously offering free charging from Friday, 14 November, for an entire week, encouraging both local residents and visitors to take advantage of this cutting-edge facility. This initiative not only underscores Raw’s commitment to supporting the transition to electric vehicles, but it also fosters community engagement by inviting the public to experience the convenience of ultra-rapid charging.

As part of a broader strategy, this new site exemplifies Raw’s expanding partnership with Aviva Investors, which spans their extensive retail property portfolio. The duo is already in the process of developing additional rapid charging hubs, showcasing their dedication to enhancing EV infrastructure in high-demand areas.

Raw Charging has positioned itself as a leader in the EV charging market, collaborating with some of the UK’s largest commercial property owners, including Aviva Investors, SEGRO, Hammerson, and Aberdeen. The company offers a comprehensive turnkey solution, managing every facet of the charging hub development process—from meticulous planning and securing grid connections to installation, operation, and ongoing maintenance.

Jason Simpson, the CEO of Raw Charging, expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating: “We’re excited to power up our latest ultra-rapid hub with Aviva Investors at Merrielands Retail Park. This is exactly the kind of high-demand destination where fast, reliable charging makes a real difference for drivers and for landlords. By turning existing retail assets into charging hubs, we’re creating convenient, future places to visit and unlocking tangible value for property owners.”

Additionally, Andrew Coles, an asset manager at Aviva Investors, highlighted the significance of this investment, saying: “This investment not only supports a more sustainable future for Barking & Dagenham but also enhances the experience for our tenants and their customers. We look forward to continuing our work with Raw Charging to deliver more projects like this across our portfolio, driving meaningful progress towards net zero and creating long-term value for our communities.”

As we navigate the path towards a greener future, the establishment of charging hubs like the one at Merrielands Retail Park is essential. These facilities not only facilitate the adoption of electric vehicles but also contribute to the overarching goal of achieving net zero emissions by providing the infrastructure necessary for widespread EV usage. The collaboration between Raw Charging and Aviva Investors exemplifies how public and private sectors can work together to create sustainable solutions that benefit both the environment and local communities.

In conclusion, the launch of this ultra-rapid charging hub is a testament to the progress being made in the EV sector. It serves as a model for future developments, demonstrating that with the right partnerships and investment, we can build a comprehensive network of charging infrastructure that meets the needs of an evolving transportation landscape. As the demand for electric vehicles continues to rise, initiatives like these will play a crucial role in shaping a more sustainable and environmentally friendly future for all.
