Farizon SV Van Disrupts Taxi and Combi Markets

In an exciting development for the electric vehicle (EV) industry, Farizon has launched two innovative variants of its SV electric van, specifically designed for the taxi and Combi markets. This announcement, made at the recent Hong Kong Auto Expo, signals a significant step forward in the company’s plans to expand its reach into Europe and the UK.

Initially, these variants are set to enter the Chinese market, showcasing the remarkable adaptability of the SV’s GXA-M platform. This platform not only underpins the vehicle’s design but also highlights Farizon’s commitment to creating versatile and efficient electric transportation solutions.

The SV Combi variant is aimed at fleet operators and businesses that require a vehicle capable of transporting both passengers and substantial amounts of equipment. It successfully merges cargo-carrying capabilities with passenger comfort, allowing for configurations of either five or six seats and offering two different lengths to cater to diverse needs. The L1 variant, measuring 5 metres in length, provides a generous cargo space of 3.8 cubic metres, while the longer L2 variant, at 5.5 metres, boasts an impressive 5 cubic metres of luggage capacity. This flexibility positions the Combi as an ideal choice for businesses that require adaptability and efficiency.

Comfort and accessibility are paramount in the design of the Combi, which features an ultra-low platform height of just 520mm. This, combined with the innovative hidden B-pillar design, creates a more user-friendly experience for passengers, ensuring ease of entry and exit. The vehicle is equipped with a range of up to 198 miles (319 km) on a single charge, and can be charged from 20% to 80% in a mere 30 minutes, making it not only practical but also efficient for everyday use.

In addition to the Combi, Farizon has also introduced a seven-seat taxi version of the SV, designed with passenger comfort and convenience in mind. This model has already garnered significant interest, with an order for 1,000 units from Hong Kong’s Big Bee taxi service. The seating arrangement across three rows, with a wide central aisle in the second row, ensures ample space for passengers and their luggage.

The interior of the SV taxi prioritises passenger convenience, featuring cupholders, a multifunction storage box, and USB Type-C charging ports located in each row. The design reflects a thoughtful approach to enhancing the passenger experience, making each journey enjoyable and hassle-free.

Accessibility is further enhanced by the SV taxi’s power sliding side door, which provides a generous 900mm opening. Coupled with the vehicle’s hidden B-pillar and a lower cabin step of 408mm, entering and exiting the vehicle becomes a seamless experience for passengers, including those with mobility challenges. At the rear, the taxi’s double doors open to create a wide loading aperture of 1,780mm, complemented by a luggage capacity of 630 litres, easily accommodating up to six large 20-inch suitcases. This feature is particularly beneficial for airports and long-distance travel, where luggage space is a premium.

With a range of up to 230 miles (370 km), the SV taxi is designed to meet the demands of urban transport while ensuring that charging times remain efficient. Like its Combi counterpart, it can achieve a 20% to 80% charge in just 30 minutes, making it a practical choice for busy taxi operators.

Both the Combi and taxi variants leverage Farizon’s advanced GXA-M platform, which integrates Cell-to-Pack (CTP-S) battery technology. This innovation not only enhances the vehicle’s body rigidity by 20% compared to conventional battery module packaging but also contributes to the overall efficiency and performance of the electric vans.

At this stage, the new variants are exclusively available in the Chinese market, but Farizon has indicated its intention to explore opportunities for expansion into other global markets. As the company progresses with the rollout of the SV panel van in international markets, it remains committed to assessing the viability of introducing these innovative models to Europe and the UK.
