Evolt Charging Names New Operations Director in Team Overhaul

Hello, Champions of Net Zero!
In an exciting development for the electric vehicle (EV) charging sector, Evolt Charging, a proud member of Swarco Smart Charging, has announced the appointment of John Betts as the new Business Operations Director. This strategic move coincides with Evolt’s 15th anniversary, marking a significant milestone in the company’s journey and setting the stage for a new era of growth and innovation.
The appointment of Betts is not merely a change in personnel; it signifies a comprehensive restructuring aimed at forming a robust senior leadership team that will guide Evolt into its next phase of development. Betts brings with him over two decades of extensive experience in transport and smart mobility, having previously served as Operations Director for Swarco UK & Ireland and spending a notable 12 years at Siemens. His expertise will be invaluable as Evolt navigates the rapidly evolving landscape of electric vehicle infrastructure.
John Betts joins a seasoned leadership team under the continued guidance of Justin Meyer, who has been at the helm as Managing Director since the company’s inception in 2010. Meyer’s vision and dedication have been instrumental in Evolt’s success, and with Betts on board, the team is poised to build on this strong foundation.
In addition to Betts, the revamped leadership team now includes Steffan Evans, who steps into the role of Finance Director. With nearly ten years of experience within the Swarco Group, Evans has been pivotal in supporting the growth of Swarco Smart Charging and will now lend his expertise to Evolt, ensuring financial stability and strategic investment in future projects.
The newly established senior management team is a blend of seasoned professionals, each bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience within the EV sector. This dynamic group includes:
- Tom Davies – Business Development Director
- Stephen Trayner – Customer Service Director
- Seamus O’Dwyer – Operations Performance Director
- Greg Longden – Commercial Director
- Danielle Cort – Marketing Director
- Alia Ali – Head of Legal
- Gillian Smyth – HR Business Partner
Evolt is excited about this new leadership team, which brings together a unique balance of continuity and fresh perspectives, especially as the UK’s EV charging sector enters a critical growth phase. The government has set ambitious targets to deploy over 300,000 public charge points by 2030, and with a surge in EV adoption, Evolt is well-positioned to play a pivotal role in this transformation.
“As the sector enters into an important new chapter, Evolt’s focus remains on delivering future-ready EV charging infrastructure for our customers and partners,” stated Justin Meyer. “This means having the right leadership in place – people who not only bring deep industry expertise but who also share our passion for creating a more sustainable transport system and understand the responsibility that comes with supporting essential infrastructure.”
Evolt has demonstrated its commitment to large-scale infrastructure rollouts across the UK, having deployed more than 13,000 charge points and currently maintaining nearly 10,000. With new frameworks already established, the company is prepared to significantly expand its operations in the coming year, ensuring that it meets the increasing demand for EV charging solutions.
“We’ve always focused on growing and nurturing great talent,” added Meyer. “Our leadership and management teams bring together some of the best in the industry, and I am confident they will help us maintain the high standards we’ve built over the last 15 years – and will continue raising the bar.”
As we look to the future, Evolt remains dedicated to providing innovative and sustainable EV charging solutions that will not only meet the needs of today but will also prepare us for the challenges of tomorrow. The company’s commitment to excellence and sustainability aligns perfectly with the goals of the Net Zero movement, as we strive towards a greener, more sustainable future.
