Be.EV Unveils £2.5m Ultra-Rapid Charging Hubs in London

Greetings, Net Zero News Community,

In an exciting development for electric vehicle (EV) enthusiasts and eco-conscious travellers alike, Be.EV has unveiled its inaugural ultra-rapid charging hub in London. This significant milestone not only highlights the company’s ambitious plans for national expansion but also aims to address the urgent need for accessible EV charging solutions in the capital.

Located at the Crown Hotel London in Cricklewood, this new hub is the first of four ultra-rapid charging stations that Be.EV plans to establish across London by the end of this year. With an investment of £2.5 million, this initiative underscores Be.EV’s commitment to enhancing the EV infrastructure throughout the UK, which has been gaining momentum since the company’s inception in Greater Manchester in 2019.

The partnership with AG Hotels at the Crown Hotel London is a strategic move designed to attract a more eco-conscious clientele. By offering convenient charging solutions, the hotel aims to enhance the overall experience for its guests, making it an appealing option for those travelling in electric vehicles.

Be.EV’s expansion plan addresses a pressing issue: the lack of high-powered public charging stations in and around London. While the city boasts a greater total number of EV chargers compared to other regions in the UK, it still falls short of the national average for 50kW+ chargers per 100,000 people. Alarmingly, only Northern Ireland has fewer of these essential chargers per capita, highlighting the urgent need for improvement.

The new charging hub at the Crown Hotel will feature thirty 150kW charging bays, capable of delivering an impressive 80% charge in just 20 minutes. This rapid charging capability is invaluable for drivers on long journeys or those in immediate need of a power boost, providing them with more options for ultra-rapid top-ups.

Moreover, the Crown Hotel London site represents a significant milestone for Be.EV, marking the launch of its 300th ultra-rapid charge point. The company has garnered recognition as the UK’s fourth top-rated large rapid and ultra-rapid EV charging network, according to the latest rankings by Zapmap. This accolade is a testament to Be.EV’s dedication to quality and customer satisfaction.

Asif Ghafoor, CEO of Be.EV, emphasised the importance of this expansion, stating, “London is crying out for reliable, accessible EV charging – and this expansion is about meeting that demand head-on. We’re helping to future-proof the city by putting chargers where people need them most: close to homes, shops, and leisure destinations.” His words resonate with the growing urgency for sustainable transport solutions as urban areas expand and the demand for electric vehicles rises.

Grish Grover, CEO and managing director at AG Hotels Group, echoed this sentiment, stating, “Onsite EV charging is becoming a clear differentiator in the hospitality sector, shifting from a nice-to-have to an essential service. Partnering with Be.EV will allow us to meet the expectations of a growing number of travellers with EVs while also attracting new customers from the local community. It’s a strategic step that strengthens our sustainability agenda and ensures our hotels remain competitive as travel behaviours evolve.”

This partnership not only reflects the changing dynamics of the hospitality industry but also signals a broader shift towards sustainability in travel. As more travellers opt for electric vehicles, hotels that offer EV charging facilities will likely see increased patronage, positioning themselves as leaders in a rapidly evolving market.

As the UK moves closer to its net-zero emissions targets, initiatives like Be.EV’s ultra-rapid charging hubs are crucial. They not only support the growing demand for electric vehicles but also contribute to reducing carbon emissions, ultimately fostering a more sustainable future for all.

Looking ahead, Be.EV plans to install additional charging hubs in Croydon, Dartford, and Watford, further expanding its network across the capital. The ongoing commitment to enhancing the EV charging infrastructure is essential for encouraging more drivers to make the switch to electric vehicles, thereby reducing the overall carbon footprint of transportation in London and beyond.

The launch of the ultra-rapid charging hub at the Crown Hotel London is not just a step towards improving infrastructure; it represents a broader commitment to sustainability, innovation, and adaptability in an ever-changing world. As the landscape of travel and transportation evolves, the integration of electric vehicle charging facilities will play a pivotal role in shaping a greener future.

In conclusion, the arrival of Be.EV’s ultra-rapid charging hub in London is a beacon of progress in the quest for a sustainable transport system. With a focus on accessibility, convenience, and environmental responsibility, this initiative sets a precedent for future developments in the EV charging sector. As we continue to champion the transition to net-zero, it is initiatives like these that will pave the way for a cleaner, greener tomorrow.
