RAW Charging Installs Electric Chargers at McArthurGlen

Welcome, Net Zero News readers,

In an exciting development for the hospitality, leisure, and retail sector, RAW Charging has successfully completed the extensive roll-out of electric vehicle (EV) chargers for McArthurGlen across the UK and Europe. This initiative not only underscores the growing demand for EV infrastructure but also highlights the commitment to sustainability within the commercial property landscape.

As part of this ambitious project, RAW Charging has installed an impressive total of 326 charging bays across McArthurGlen’s portfolio, which spans both the UK and European markets. This initiative serves to enhance the customer experience at these premium shopping destinations while promoting the use of electric vehicles.

In the UK, the final touches are being put at two sites—the McArthurGlen Designer Outlets located in the West Midlands and Swindon. Specifically, 10 and 24 EV charging bays are being installed at these locations, respectively, further increasing the convenience for EV drivers who visit these popular shopping centres.

Meanwhile, on the European front, RAW Charging has recently completed installations at three notable sites in Italy: La Reggia, Castel Romano, and Noventa. These sites each boast more than 20 EV charging bays, facilitating ease of access for electric vehicle users. Additionally, another installation is in the pipeline at Serravalle, promising to expand the charging network even further.

This extensive roll-out is a key component of RAW’s commercial property strategy, which focuses on collaborating with some of the largest landlords across the UK and Europe. The goal is not merely to install chargers but to create a robust EV charging ecosystem that meets the needs of a rapidly evolving market.

Among the standout projects executed by RAW Charging is their largest installation to date at Paris-Giverny, where 144 state-of-the-art 22kW EV charging bays were installed for the convenience of shoppers. This particular project marks the single largest deployment of ChargePoint’s CP6000 AC charging solution, setting a new benchmark for EV infrastructure in commercial settings. With the completion of the final installations at McArthurGlen Designer Outlet in West Midlands, Swindon, and Serravalle expected by mid-2025, the future of EV charging at these locations is looking bright.

To accommodate the increasing demand for EV charging facilities, RAW Charging is actively partnering with commercial property owners, including major entities such as Aviva Investors, SEGRO, Hammerson, and Aberdeen. These collaborations aim to transform underutilised brownfield sites into ultra-rapid EV charging hubs, thereby maximising the potential of these parcels of land while supporting the transition to electric mobility.

RAW Charging provides a comprehensive turnkey solution for commercial property landlords, ensuring that land which is not being leveraged to its full potential can be transformed into a valuable asset within their property portfolios. This approach not only enhances the value of the land but also aligns with sustainability goals that are increasingly becoming paramount in today’s business landscape.

Throughout 2024, RAW Charging has broadened its impact by installing chargers at a variety of diverse sites. These include National Trust locations, boutique hotels under Bespoke Hotels, and attractions managed by Merlin Entertainments. This diversification demonstrates RAW’s commitment to making EV charging accessible to a wider audience, ensuring that electric vehicle users can find charging options in numerous contexts.

Jason Simpson, the CEO of RAW Charging, expressed his enthusiasm regarding the recent achievements: “We are delighted to have completed the roll-out of EV chargers at McArthurGlen Designer Outlets in the UK and Europe. The work we have done demonstrates our dedication to providing a best-in-class EV charging experience to EV drivers who expect high-quality service at a prestigious and quality brand like McArthurGlen.”

Simpson further emphasised the company’s ongoing commitment to delivering innovative solutions for the UK’s largest landlords, stating, “We will continue to deliver solutions for the UK’s largest landlords, delivering ultra-rapid EV charging across their portfolios throughout the country.”

David Jackson, UK Facilities Lead at McArthurGlen, echoed this sentiment, saying, “We are proud to continue working with RAW and bringing sustainable EV charging solutions to our centres. This collaboration reflects our commitment to providing innovative services that meet the evolving needs of our guests, ensuring a seamless and eco-friendly experience for all who visit our centres.”

As we move further into a future where electric vehicles are becoming increasingly mainstream, it is collaborations like these that will pave the way for a more sustainable environment. With the growing network of charging infrastructure, both in the UK and across Europe, electric vehicle drivers can look forward to a more convenient and accessible charging experience, making the transition to electric mobility smoother than ever before.

In conclusion, the proactive steps taken by RAW Charging in partnership with McArthurGlen not only enhance the shopping experience for consumers but also contribute significantly to the broader goal of reducing carbon emissions. As we all strive towards net zero, the expansion of EV charging networks stands out as a crucial component in transforming our transportation systems and promoting a greener future.
