Volkswagen Unveils Budget-Friendly Entry-Level EV

Hello, Champions of Net Zero!
In an exciting development for electric vehicle enthusiasts and eco-conscious drivers alike, Volkswagen has unveiled its much-anticipated entry-level electric vehicle (EV), the ID. EVERY1, at a world premiere. This innovative model is set to revolutionise the EV market by making sustainable driving more accessible than ever.
Production of the ID. EVERY1 is slated to commence in 2027, with an attractive starting price of approximately €20,000. This price point positions it as a viable option for many consumers, marking a significant step towards widespread electric mobility. Volkswagen also announced that the ID. 2all, another promising model, will be available as early as 2026, priced within the €25,000 range. Both vehicles are part of the new Electric Urban Car Family, which is being developed under the Volkswagen Group’s Core brand group.
The ID. EVERY1 is built on Volkswagen’s cutting-edge modular electric drive platform, known as MEB, which features front-wheel drive capabilities. This platform is designed to optimise space utilisation and efficiency, reflecting Volkswagen’s commitment to creating sustainable and practical vehicles.
According to the manufacturer, the ID. EVERY1 is a modern evolution of its predecessor, the up! vehicle. It boasts impressive specifications, achieving a top speed of 130 km/h, powered by a newly developed electric motor generating 70 kW (95 PS). With a range of at least 250 kilometres, this model is sure to meet the needs of urban drivers and those seeking economical, electric transport solutions.
Measuring 3,880 mm in length, the ID. EVERY1 sits comfortably between the up! (3,600 mm) and the ID. 2all (4,050 mm), as well as the current Polo (4,074 mm). Inside, it offers ample space for four passengers and a luggage compartment volume of 305 litres, making it a practical choice for everyday use.
Andreas Mindt, Volkswagen’s Head of Design, shared his vision for the ID. EVERY1, stating, “Our ambition was to create something bold yet accessible. The ID. EVERY1 has a self-assured appearance but remains likeable – thanks to details such as the dynamic front lights and the ‘smiling’ rear. These design elements make it more than just a car: they give it character and an identity that people can relate to.”
Thomas Schäfer, CEO of Volkswagen Passenger Cars, echoed this sentiment, emphasising the importance of the ID. EVERY1 in the company’s broader strategy. “The ID. EVERY1 represents the last piece of the puzzle on our way to the widest model selection in the volume segment. We will then offer every customer the right car with the right drive system – including affordable all-electric entry-level mobility,” he said. “Our goal is to be the world’s technologically leading high-volume manufacturer by 2030. And as a brand for everyone – just as you would expect from Volkswagen.”
Moreover, Kai Grünitz, a member of the Volkswagen Brand Board of Management responsible for Development, highlighted the emphasis on customer-centricity in the vehicle’s design. “In the future model, we talk about Customer Defined Vehicles. The ID. EVERY1 shows that we are putting our customers, their wishes, interests and preferences at the centre of vehicle development more consistently than ever,” he noted.
He further elaborated, “The production version of the ID. EVERY1 will be the first model in the entire Group to use a fundamentally new, particularly powerful software architecture. This means that the future entry-level Volkswagen can be equipped with new functions throughout its entire life cycle if its users so wish. Even after purchase of a new car, the vehicle can still be individually adapted to their needs.”
This adaptability is a significant advancement in the automotive industry, as it allows for continuous upgrades and personalisation, ensuring that the ID. EVERY1 remains relevant and in tune with the evolving needs of its drivers.
As we look towards the future of sustainable transportation, the ID. EVERY1 signifies more than just a new model; it represents a commitment to making electric mobility accessible to all. With its competitive pricing, practical features, and innovative design, Volkswagen is paving the way for a new generation of electric vehicles that align with the values of the Net Zero movement.
In conclusion, the ID. EVERY1 is not just a car; it is a bold step towards a sustainable future, providing an opportunity for more individuals to embrace electric mobility. As the automotive industry continues to evolve, Volkswagen’s dedication to innovation and customer-centric design will play a crucial role in shaping the future of transportation. Keep an eye on this space as we follow the developments leading up to the ID. EVERY1’s launch in 2027!
