InstaVolt “Unveil” New Superhub in Winchester

Hello, Champions of Net Zero!

In an exciting development for electric vehicle (EV) enthusiasts and sustainability advocates, InstaVolt is on the verge of unveiling one of the UK’s largest and most advanced ultra-rapid charging hubs in Winchester this spring. This significant milestone is not just about charging cars; it represents a transformational shift towards a greener future.

Strategically located near key transport routes, including the A34 and M3, the new Superhub will boast an impressive 44 ultra-rapid chargers, each capable of delivering up to 160kW. This infrastructure is set to enhance both long-distance travel and local journeys, making it easier than ever for drivers to embrace electric mobility.

At the core of this ambitious project is a commitment to sustainability. The Winchester Superhub will be InstaVolt’s first site to incorporate an on-site solar farm, featuring 870 solar panels that will generate renewable energy to power the chargers. This innovative design leverages advanced battery storage technology, significantly reducing reliance on the national grid while delivering cleaner and more cost-effective charging options. In fact, the Superhub is projected to prevent an astonishing 94.66 tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually, contributing to the UK’s net-zero goals.

The positive impact of this project extends beyond environmental benefits. During its construction phase, the Superhub has already created jobs, and it will continue to do so as it opens its doors to the public. Notably, 14 new positions are being generated at the on-site Starbucks café, further supporting the local economy.

InstaVolt is equally dedicated to promoting biodiversity at the site. Plans include wildflower planting to attract pollinators, the installation of bat boxes, and the creation of log piles to support insect populations. This holistic approach underscores the company’s commitment to not only enhancing EV infrastructure but also fostering a thriving ecosystem.

As the official opening approaches, key local figures have been given a sneak peek at the Superhub. Winchester MP Danny Chambers and Martin Tod, the leader of Winchester City Council, were guided through the development by InstaVolt’s CEO Delvin Lane and COO Matthew Tunstall. Their visit highlighted the impressive progress being made as the project nears completion.

In expressing his thoughts on the initiative, MP Danny Chambers remarked, “Anything that makes the transition to driving electric vehicles easier is vital for both the environment and our economy. I was particularly impressed by the integration between solar energy and EV charging, which is a huge step towards true sustainability.”

Echoing this sentiment, Winchester City Council Leader Martin Tod stated, “It shows how businesses and local government can work to build a greener future while creating jobs and supporting sustainable transport. It brings our ambitions to life and provides a fantastic, cutting-edge facility right on our doorstep that both local residents and visitors can use.”

InstaVolt’s CEO, Delvin Lane, expressed his enthusiasm for the project, saying, “The Superhub represents a major milestone for EV infrastructure in the UK, and I was delighted to welcome Danny and Martin to see first-hand the progress we’re making here. Their support is crucial as we want our Superhub to be an important part of the community. We’re proud to be supporting the local economy while making driving EVs much more accessible. Our Winchester Superhub is setting the standard for how EV charging hubs should be across the UK — fast, accessible, and powered by renewable energy.”

As the UK pushes forward on its journey to net zero, initiatives like the InstaVolt Superhub in Winchester are crucial. They not only provide the necessary infrastructure for a growing number of electric vehicles but also embody the spirit of collaboration between businesses and local governments in creating a sustainable future. With each new charging station, we are one step closer to a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable world.

Stay tuned for more updates as the opening day approaches, and let’s continue to champion the transition to electric vehicles and renewable energy solutions together!
