Wave secures contract with energy group

Wave, the national water retailer, has made a significant stride by securing a new water framework with The Energy Consortium (TEC) for the next four years. This achievement marks a crucial win for Wave, granting access to university and museum customers across the country, with a combined annual revenue of £25 million and showing signs of continuous growth. Thanks to Wave’s dedication to quality, water efficiency, and social value, it is anticipated that they will retain 100% of current TEC customers.

The newly established framework will further strengthen the already robust and trust-based relationship that Wave has cultivated with TEC over the past four years through their existing framework. During this time, TEC and Wave have collaborated at various levels to innovate and deliver optimal outcomes for member organisations.

Recently, Wave’s Legionella Risk Management (LRM) trial has introduced an exciting opportunity for TEC members. By participating in this trial, members have the chance to test innovative sensors that could potentially reduce excess water usage associated with LRM practices in colleges and universities nationwide.

Both Wave and TEC share a profound commitment to environmental sustainability and community engagement. TEC and its member organisations have actively volunteered for Wave’s social value initiatives, including participation in maintenance projects at Washington Wildlife Trust, Worcester & Birmingham Canal, and Liverpool Festival Gardens.

Tony March, Director of Public Sector and Industrial Customers at Wave, expressed his enthusiasm about the new TEC framework, stating, “Wave is thrilled to have secured the new TEC framework, providing a solid foundation to build upon our ongoing efforts. Together with TEC, we aim to drive efficiencies, decrease water consumption, enhance compliance, and continue our journey towards achieving net zero.”

In response to the new framework, Steve Creighton, Head of Members at The Energy Consortium, emphasised the value it brings to TEC and its members. “Wave has consistently delivered exceptional service to our members and demonstrated a profound understanding of the challenges within our sector. By aligning with TEC’s core objectives, we are committed to driving change, promoting water efficiency, and reducing consumption and waste for the benefit of all,” he commented.

Looking ahead, Wave is set to participate in an upcoming conference in November hosted by TEC to further advocate for water efficiency and sustainability among member organisations. The collaboration between Wave and TEC underscores a shared vision for a more sustainable and efficient water service that aligns with the broader goals of achieving net zero emissions across various industries.
