ScottishPower welcomes massive early career group
ScottishPower, a pioneer in the energy industry, has announced its largest early career intake ever with plans to recruit 325 individuals for its 2025 graduate and trainee programmes. This exciting news follows the company’s commitment to double its investment in the UK by 2028, increasing from £12bn to an impressive £24bn, with a significant portion earmarked for its electricity networks.
With over 200 trainee positions and more than 100 graduate placements up for grabs, there are ample opportunities available at ScottishPower for budding professionals. These roles span across various locations, from East Anglia to support ScottishPower Renewables’ offshore projects, to Merseyside, North Wales, and Scotland, where SP Energy Networks manage an extensive network of underground cables and overhead lines spanning thousands of kilometres.
Primarily focusing on engineering, technology, and project management roles, SP Energy Networks is keen on hiring a substantial number of trainees to bolster their multi-billion-pound investment programme, specifically aimed at upgrading Scotland’s transmission network to accommodate the integration of more renewable energy sources.

We aim to attract over 100 talented graduates to join our rapidly expanding business. These are truly promising times as we continue to grow and innovate, with fresh talent joining our team.”
Sharing his experience, Jonathan Naftalin, a Graduate Trainee Engineer at SP Energy Networks, highlighted the invaluable opportunities provided by the graduate programme, saying, “The graduate programme has afforded me the chance to contribute to impactful projects that shape the future of the UK’s energy infrastructure. The structured nature of the programme has exposed me to various facets of the business, fostering new relationships and providing a comprehensive understanding of our distribution and transmission operations.”
As ScottishPower envisions a greener and more sustainable future, attracting top-notch talent to join their ranks is crucial for driving innovation and progress in the energy sector. The company’s emphasis on nurturing fresh minds and providing hands-on experience to young professionals underscores their commitment to fostering a skilled workforce capable of meeting the challenges of tomorrow.
