10 electric car myths debunked in VRA white paper

The Vehicle Remarketing Association (VRA) has released a new white paper debunking 10 of the most common myths surrounding electric vehicles, providing valuable insights for the remarketing sector and used car buyers alike.

Covering topics such as range, batteries, charging, running costs, pollution, and insurance, the ‘EV Misconceptions’ guide aims to educate individuals on the facts surrounding EVs.

Authored by battery electrochemist Dr Euan McTurk, the creator of Plug Life Television, a YouTube channel dedicated to EVs, the white paper is a comprehensive resource to dispel misinformation and address common misconceptions surrounding electric vehicles.

According to Philip Nothard, VRA chair, the release of the white paper is crucial in combating the inaccurate information that often surrounds EVs within the remarketing sector. He states, “Our goal with this document is to equip individuals working in the used car and van sector with the necessary facts to educate potential customers and alleviate any concerns they may have about electric vehicles.”

The ‘EV Misconceptions’ guide is part of a series of white papers on EVs released by the VRA over the past year. Previous installments have covered topics like Electric Vehicle Charging, Electric Vehicle Battery Health, Understanding Electric Vehicle Efficiency, Charging Costs and Infrastructure, and The Future of EV Technology.

Nothard emphasises the importance of these resources, stating, “With a growing library of white papers authored by Euan, we have seen a positive response from our members and the remarketing sector at large. These publications provide valuable insights and knowledge, benefiting individuals working in the used vehicle sector as they navigate the shift towards electrification.”

For those looking to access the new white paper and other publications in the VRA EV series, detailed information on downloads can be found on the VRA website.
