WSHA wins £33,500 from National Lottery.
Whiteinch and Scotstoun Housing Association (WSHA) has recently received a generous award of £33,500.00 from The National Lottery Community Fund. This funding will support the remarkable work being carried out by the team at the Whiteinch Community Shop, which first opened its doors in May 2025.
Since its establishment, the shop has made a significant impact by helping nearly 2,000 individuals access affordable food options. James Ward, the chief executive officer at WSHA, expressed his gratitude for the additional financial support, stating that it will allow for extended opening hours, a wider range of food offerings, and the accommodation of specific dietary and cultural requirements.
Highlighting the importance of community support, Kate Still, the chair of The National Lottery Community Fund in Scotland, commended the 30-year legacy of the National Lottery in bringing communities together and transforming lives through its funding contributions.
Lee Raeside, the community projects co-ordinator at The Whiteinch Centre, emphasised the significance of the increased funding in enabling them to assist more individuals in need. This boost in financial assistance will not only benefit the local community but also have a positive ripple effect beyond its boundaries.
Fiona Lawlor, the community shop facilitator at The Whiteinch Community Shop, expressed her excitement over the impact that this funding will have on their ability to serve the community effectively. Echoing this sentiment, Ezinna Orji, a user of the community shop, highlighted the positive outcomes that will result from this support, noting that it will particularly benefit those most in need within the community.
