Vauxhall Mokka gets a new look, ditches basic petrol and electric versions.

Vauxhall has recently unveiled the updated version of its Mokka crossover, showcasing a fresh new aesthetic, cutting-edge technology, and a more streamlined powertrain selection.

The revamped model, set to hit the market before the year wraps up, bids farewell to the 99hp 1.2-litre petrol engine previously included in the lineup, along with the original fully electric powertrain that paired a 136hp e-motor with a 50kWh battery, offering a WLTP range of 209 miles.

The revised range now features the Mokka Hybrid equipped with 48V technology and the long-range Mokka Electric, which made its debut at the beginning of 2024.

The Hybrid variant combines a 136hp 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine with a 28hp motor and a newly electrified six-speed dual-clutch transmission. This configuration allows the vehicle to operate in fully electric mode for brief durations at lower speeds.

On the other hand, the Mokka Electric boasts a 156hp electric motor and a 54kWh battery, offering an impressive range of up to 250 miles according to WLTP standards.

In terms of exterior design updates, the Mokka now showcases the distinctive Vauxhall Vizor face, with subtle enhancements to highlight its visual appeal. Adjustments include a black trim strip, updated LED lights at the front and rear, as well as unique aero wheels on the Electric model, while chrome details have been omitted.

Stepping inside the cabin, the latest Mokka boasts a newly-designed steering wheel with flattened top and bottom sections, drawing inspiration from the Vizor design language. Some physical buttons have been integrated into the touchscreen interface to declutter the centre console, while features like the electric parking brake and selectable driving modes, found in the Mokka Electric and automatic versions, have been borrowed from the new Grandland.

The updated model also comes equipped with a standard 10-inch digital driver information display and a 10-inch colour touchscreen. Optional features include voice recognition technology with the navigation system, which offers over-the-air updates and provides EV-specific routing with charging station information for the Mokka Electric. Additionally, wireless smartphone connectivity and a 180-degree rear-view camera are also included in the mix.

For added convenience, the trim lineup has been streamlined to include Design, GS, and Ultimate variants, without the need for additional packs. Customers can simply select their preferred trim level, powertrain, and colour option without any fuss.

Keep an eye out next month for the official announcement of prices and a full breakdown of specifications to complete the picture.
