New tool helps UK fleets monitor EV chargers for optimal vehicle readiness.

Webfleet has unveiled an exciting new Electric Vehicle (EV) Charger Monitoring solution that enables fleets to efficiently monitor their electric vehicles and private chargers all through a single platform. This groundbreaking development, part of the recently launched EV Services Platform, seamlessly integrates charger data from multiple locations directly into the Webfleet fleet management system, regardless of the charger brand or management system in use.

This cutting-edge technology provides fleet managers with crucial information to ensure that their vehicles are fully charged and ready for operation the next day, across various sites. Additionally, it offers valuable insights on energy costs, usage patterns, and charger utilization, empowering managers to optimize their charging strategies for maximum efficiency.

Taco Olthoff, the Director of the EV Programme at Bridgestone Mobility Solutions, emphasized the importance of reliable fleet operation for managers of electric vehicles. He stated, “One of the key priorities for managers overseeing EVs is to ensure smooth business operations. The EV Charger Monitoring solution addresses this need effectively by providing fleet managers with a comprehensive overview of all charging stations at different locations, regardless of the supplier.”

Olthoff added, “We aim to eliminate the risk of starting the workday with an uncharged EV, which could result in an unplanned stop at a fast charger, leading to increased time and costs. Through our solution, managers can receive notifications in case of any unexpected issues.”

Already making a significant impact on fleet operations, Protectas in Switzerland has successfully integrated the Webfleet EV Charger Monitoring solution into its fleet of 16 electric vehicles. Daniel Lopes, the Deputy Area Manager, shared his experience, “Webfleet EV Charger Monitoring has simplified our EV fleet management by providing us with streamlined oversight of electric vehicles and charging infrastructure, ensuring that our fleet is always fully charged and operational.”

Notably, this solution offers fleet managers real-time updates on charger availability, occupancy, charging speeds, and the location of vehicles in relation to chargers, as well as the capability for multi-site monitoring. The dedicated dashboard within Webfleet also furnishes key insights into energy costs, consumption patterns, usage trends, and average charging times, enabling customers to monitor and enhance their EV charging strategies efficiently.

The beauty of this solution lies in its compatibility with any charger brand that adheres to open charging protocols (OCPP and OCPI), facilitating integration into the fleet management user experience without the need for additional hardware. By leveraging the EV Services Platform ecosystem, Webfleet seamlessly integrates with any Charge Point Management System (CPMS) following the latest OCPI standards, and is already collaborating with EV Service Platform partners such as Bia, Evesto, Ampeco, and Monta.

Currently available to European Webfleet customers, this solution represents the latest innovation from the EV Services Platform, a dynamic system that incorporates offerings from mobility and energy partners to simplify the electrification journey for fleets.

With Webfleet’s EV Charger Monitoring solution, the future of fleet electrification is here, providing a seamless and efficient way for fleet managers to oversee their electric vehicles and charging infrastructure with confidence and ease.
