Have Your Say on North Ayrshire’s Development Plan
The North Ayrshire Council is seeking input from the community on the development of the latest Local Development Plan (LDP3) for the region. This plan aims to guide development and investment in North Ayrshire, ensuring it aligns with the needs and priorities of residents, businesses, and community groups.
Throughout this consultation process, the council has been proactive in gathering feedback from the public. Surveys and events have been conducted to understand people’s perspectives on their living, working, and recreational spaces in North Ayrshire. This feedback will directly influence the preparation of the Evidence Report, a crucial stage in shaping the LDP3.
As part of this initiative, the council has created six ‘Place Profiles,’ each representing a different locality within North Ayrshire. These profiles offer a comprehensive overview of the social, cultural, environmental, and economic aspects of each area, as well as summarising community opinions and priorities collected through previous engagements.
Councillor Alan Hill, the cabinet member for island and communities, emphasised the importance of community input in creating an inclusive and effective development plan. He highlighted the dynamic nature of people’s priorities and the need to adapt planning processes accordingly to reflect these changes.
While there are currently no new proposals for land development, efforts are underway in the Garnock Valley to develop a community-led Local Place Plan that will inform the LDP3. Residents can learn more about both the LDP3 and the Garnock Valley Local Place Plan at community events in Kilbirnie, Beith, and Dalry. Additional information is available on the Our Garnock Valley website.
