Hanover transfers properties to Barrhead HA.

Hanover Scotland has recently finalized the transfer of management of five of its properties to Barrhead Housing Association, marking a significant step towards providing enhanced localised services and support to the tenants.

A comprehensive review conducted by Hanover recognized the potential for service improvements through a partnership with a reputable local housing provider. This strategic move aligns with Hanover’s core values of respect, accountability, collaboration, and inclusion whilst aiming to improve the lives of its tenants.

Janice McDonald, head of housing at Hanover Scotland, expressed her optimism about the transfer by stating, “This transfer will allow tenants to benefit from Barrhead Housing’s highly regarded, locally focused services. We are confident that their close community ties and excellent customer service will enhance the experience for all tenants.”

Barrhead Housing Association, an established registered social landlord in East Renfrewshire, brings almost four decades of experience in offering affordable housing and community support. With a portfolio of over 1,000 homes, Barrhead Housing is well-equipped to provide personalised and attentive services to its tenants.

Lorna Wilson, the chief executive of Barrhead Housing Association, commented on the development by saying, “We are delighted to welcome our new tenants into the Barrhead Housing family. We deliver excellent services and put the tenant voice at the heart of everything we do.”

Wilson further added, “Barrhead’s tenants will also benefit from a dedicated customer service officer, a local office for face-to-face support, and a range of improvements to their homes. We are really looking forward to building strong relationships with our new tenants and ensuring they feel at home in our community.”

Importantly, the transfer guarantees that there will be no alterations to existing tenancy agreements, rights, or responsibilities. Tenants can continue to enjoy affordable rents without any increases until 2026, along with a series of home improvements planned for the upcoming years.

With the successful completion of the transfer, Barrhead Housing now assumes full responsibility for the management of the properties, as evidenced by its commitment to providing affordable housing, home enhancements, and enriched community services.
