Autumn lecture to simplify policy for Housing Studies Association

The Housing Studies Association (HSA) is set to host an enlightening autumn lecture that will delve into the intricate world of policy and shed light on how the housing studies community can effectively engage with it. As academia places a growing emphasis on expanding the impact of research beyond traditional boundaries, navigating the complex landscape of policymaking can be a daunting task. This upcoming lecture aims to provide valuable insights into how researchers can connect with policymakers at various levels and ensure that their findings resonate and drive significant change.

Titled ‘Demystifying the world of policy’, this online event is scheduled for Monday 28th October, from 2pm to 4pm. Dr Francesca Albanese, the executive director of policy & social change at Crisis, will chair this event. With her extensive experience at Crisis, she brings a wealth of knowledge in navigating the policy arena. Additionally, Francesca is an editorial panel member at Thinkhouse and has previously worked at Homeless Link and Shelter.

The lecture will feature a lineup of distinguished speakers, including:

  • Professor Beth Watts-Cobbe from I-SPHERE, Heriot-Watt University. Beth’s research focuses on homelessness, youth homelessness, rough sleeping, social housing, and poverty.
  • Jennie Bibbings, a senior researcher on housing and homelessness at Senedd, who previously served as the head of campaigns at Shelter Cymru.
  • Dr Joe Frey, a knowledge exchange broker at the UK Collaborative Centre for Housing Evidence (CaCHE), who plays a pivotal role in bridging the gap between academia and the housing sector in Northern Ireland.

This extraordinary lineup of experts promises to offer valuable insights and perspectives on engaging with policymakers and driving positive change in the field of housing studies. To secure your spot at this insightful event, click here to book your tickets.
