Volkswagen donates electric van to charity helping Medical Detection Dogs

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles is proud to announce its partnership with Medical Detection Dogs by providing them with the loan of an all-electric ID. Buzz Cargo vehicle.
The ID. Buzz Cargo, the charity’s first electric vehicle, will play a crucial role in supporting the organisation’s life-saving work. It will aid trainers in safely transporting the dogs to and from training sessions, home visits, public access training, and veterinary appointments within the region.
Medical Detection Dogs, the chosen charity of the year for Volkswagen Group UK, focuses on training bio-detection dogs and medical alert assistance dogs. These specially trained canines have the remarkable ability to detect the odour of human diseases and alert individuals to potential medical crises.
The ID. Buzz Cargo, boasting a 3.9m3 volume, has been customised with two specially fitted crates to ensure the dogs’ safety during transportation. Additionally, the vehicle provides ample space for the charity’s training equipment.
Charlotte Richardson, corporate partnerships manager at Medical Detection Dogs, expressed her gratitude for the support, stating, “Finding suitable vehicles for our trainers to transport our life-saving dogs safely and comfortably can be challenging. The space and safety features offered by the ID. Buzz Cargo will greatly facilitate the operational side of our training efforts.”
She added, “Not only does the vehicle meet our practical needs, but being our first all-electric vehicle, it also aligns with our commitment to sustainability. The excellent range of the ID. Buzz Cargo makes the transition to electric vehicles a seamless one for our trainers, enabling them to continue their vital work efficiently and eco-consciously.”
