New Audi A3 offers 88-mile electric range and 5% BiK.

Audi’s latest offering in the electric vehicle market is the new A3 Sportback plug-in hybrid, setting a new standard with a remarkable 88 miles of all-electric range and qualifying for a low 5% Benefit-in-Kind tax rate.

The new A3 plug-in hybrid more than doubles the electric range of the previous model

With a starting price of £39,150, this new plug-in hybrid version surpasses its predecessor by more than doubling the electric range, all thanks to a new higher-capacity 25.7kWh battery. Additionally, this model boasts a new 50kW DC charging capability and increased power.

The A3 Sportback 40 TFSI e is a valuable addition to the recently revamped A3 line-up, launched earlier this year. This model benefits from the same sporty styling, updated design elements, and cutting-edge digital features.

Featuring a comprehensive technology upgrade like the rest of the line-up, the latest plug-in hybrid model is equipped with a new turbocharged petrol engine and an enhanced electric motor with increased power density, along with a more potent high-voltage battery.

The 150hp 1.5 TFSI evo2 combustion engine replaces the previous 1.4 TFSI, incorporating a range of advanced features to boost efficiency, reduce fuel consumption, and lower emissions.

The new electric motor now delivers 115hp and is seamlessly integrated into the six-speed S Tronic dual-clutch automatic transmission.

With a peak power of 204hp and 350Nm torque, this model accelerates from 0-62mph in just 7.4 seconds, boasting a top speed of 140mph. The all-electric mode reaches a top speed of 87mph, and the A3 PHEV features a specifically tuned chassis for optimal performance.

Furthermore, the new plug-in hybrid A3 incorporates coasting with the engine switched off and energy recuperation during braking. Similar to Audi’s all-electric models, the steering wheel now includes paddles to control the degree of recuperation in EV mode for the first time.

Introducing DC fast charging capability at fast-charging stations, this marks a significant milestone for Audi’s plug-in hybrid models. The 50kW DC recharging capability allows for a quick recharge from 10-80% in under half an hour. Additionally, drivers can charge at AC charging points, with three-phase charging at up to 11kW completing the task in just 2.5 hours.

Aligned with the A3 line-up, the plug-in hybrid powertrain is available in Sport, S line, and Black Edition specifications. Standard features include 17-inch alloy wheels, the Audi Drive Select dynamic handling system, and air conditioning as standard.
