Perth councillors approve 29 homes on old hotel site

The Perth and Kinross councillors have given the green light to plans for the construction of 29 houses on the former Gartwhinzean Hotel site in Powmill. Kera Scotland Ltd has put forward a proposal for a combination of two and three-bedroom houses, including seven affordable homes, on the land where the hotel once stood before it was tragically destroyed by a fire in 2012.
Following a thorough review, council officials have recommended the approval of the proposed housing development, as reported by the Perthshire Advertiser. Raghu Raj, representing Kera Scotland, expressed during a meeting with the council’s planning and placemaking committee that they firmly believe this project will bring a positive impact to Powmill and help meet the pressing need for quality housing in the area.
The planning application received unanimous approval from the council members, signalling a milestone towards the transformation of the former hotel site into a vibrant residential community. This decision marks a significant step towards addressing the housing shortage in Powmill and contributing to the overall development of the locality.
