Eco Wave Power, a leading onshore wave energy company, has recently inked a groundbreaking contract that paves the way for the introduction of its innovative technology in Taiwan.

The company has partnered with I-Ke International Ocean Energy Co., a prominent maritime engineering firm, to embark on an ambitious venture to establish a 100 KW wave energy project on the vibrant east coast of Taiwan.

Initially, the project will kick off with the development of a 20 MW wave energy power station in Taiwan. This journey will commence with a modest 100KW pilot project, gradually progressing through various stages to ultimately achieve a noteworthy total commercial capacity of 400 MW.

Under the terms of the agreement, I-Ke will procure a turnkey conversion unit from Eco Wave Power. This comprehensive conversion unit encompasses all the essential hydraulic and electric conversion components, complemented by a cutting-edge smart control and automation system.

In a strategic move, I-Ke will oversee the local production of floaters, hydraulic cylinders, and all other vital components of the technology situated along the seashore of the marine structure.

Providing insight into the significance of this collaboration, CY Huang, the Chairman of Lian Tat, expressed his optimism about Taiwan’s immense potential for harnessing marine energy. With a sprawling coastline spanning 1,566 kilometres, Taiwan stands poised for a green energy revolution.

Huang further remarked, ‘The construction of Eco Wave Power’s project in Taiwan is expected to proceed seamlessly, serving as a pivotal catalyst for the advancement of sustainable electricity production in the region.’

‘I firmly believe that this partnership will enable Taiwan to break free from conventional renewable energy constraints, facilitating a transition towards a more diversified renewable energy landscape. We have already concluded the meticulous site selection process, and upon the successful establishment of the 100KW demonstration site, our objective is to swiftly upscale to 20MW. Our ultimate ambition is to exceed 400MW in wave energy installed capacity,’ he added.
