Green power for EV charging stations.

Wednesday 9 October 2024

Exciting news in the world of electric vehicles as InstaVolt, the leading electric car charging operator, makes a monumental shift towards sustainability. The company has made a bold move by announcing that all 1,700 of its chargers will now run on 100 per cent green electricity, courtesy of Octopus Energy.

This groundbreaking decision is not just a win for the environment but also for EV drivers. InstaVolt has also pledged to take part in Octopus Energy’s innovative Plunge Pricing scheme. This initiative enables drivers to access more affordable public charging during periods when the supply of green energy is at its peak.

It’s not the first time that InstaVolt has joined forces with Octopus Energy. Last year, the company became a part of Octopus Electroverse’s ‘one card, one app’ model. This model simplifies the charging process for EV drivers by granting them access to an impressive network of 850,000 chargers from 950 different brands spread across 40 countries.

In a statement, Delvin Lane, the Chief Executive Officer of InstaVolt, expressed his enthusiasm about the partnership with Octopus Energy. He stated, “InstaVolt is excited to strengthen our ongoing partnership with Octopus Energy. By powering our chargers with Octopus’ green energy, we can further deliver on our promise to provide 100% renewable energy across our charging network.”

He went on to highlight the significance of this collaboration for customers, saying, “This means our customers can charge their vehicles knowing they’re using the cleanest energy available. Additionally, this collaboration allows us to participate in Octopus’ ‘Plunge Pricing’ events, offering our customers lower charging costs when green energy is abundant, benefiting both their wallets and their consciences.”

InstaVolt’s charging stations are currently spread across over 800 locations in the UK, making it convenient for EV drivers to top up their vehicles hassle-free. The company has also expanded its reach by venturing into Iceland and has its sights set on launching in Spain, Portugal, and Ireland in the near future.
