New Gridserve location now open in Knebworth
GRIDSERVE has introduced the latest addition to its Electric Forecourt family with the opening of a cutting-edge facility in Stevenage, situated on the iconic Knebworth Estate. This state-of-the-art forecourt, the fourth of its kind in the UK, is strategically located near Junction 7 of the A1(M) motorway, offering 30 EV charging bays all powered by 100% net-zero energy.
Steeped in rich history and known for hosting legendary music events headlined by the likes of Robbie Williams and Oasis, the Knebworth Estate is not only a cultural hotspot but also a hub of excitement with attractions such as a dinosaur trail, adventure playground, and the impressive Knebworth House. Nestled alongside the A1, the UK’s longest road spanning from London to Edinburgh, this location is an ideal pitstop for EV drivers.
The Electric Forecourt boasts 24 high-power bays capable of delivering up to 360kW, allowing for a swift addition of 100 miles of range in just ten minutes. This new charging hub significantly boosts the charging infrastructure in Stevenage, enhancing accessibility for the local community, motorway users, and visitors to Knebworth.
What sets this facility apart is its provision of both CCS and CHAdeMO connectors, facilitating seamless charging experiences. Payment options are versatile, ranging from contactless methods to the user-friendly GRIDSERVE EV charging app. Real-time updates on charging availability are readily accessible through popular EV charging maps.
In the pipeline is the opening of a Little Fresh ‘Good to Go’ convenience store, incorporating Amazon’s innovative Just Walk Out technology to enhance convenience for patrons.
The Electric Forecourt operates from 7am to 9pm, seven days a week, with knowledgeable GRIDSERVE Gurus present on-site to offer assistance around EV charging. For support outside operating hours, customers can rely on a dedicated customer service helpline.
With a network of over 190 locations boasting more than 1,500 charging bays, GRIDSERVE continues to lead the way in revolutionising the EV charging landscape.
Rebecca Trebble, Chief Product Officer at GRIDSERVE, shared her insights on the development:
“Drawing from our experience with the first Electric Forecourt in Braintree launched in 2020, we have refined our approach for the Stevenage site. Visitors can now easily drive forward or reverse into bays, reflecting our commitment to enhancing the EV charging experience through innovative design modifications.”
“Establishing a presence in a renowned estate like Knebworth is a true honour for us as we stand in solidarity with the estate’s sustainability goals to reduce environmental impact.”
Martha Lytton Cobbold, Managing Director of Lytton Enterprises and Knebworth Estates, echoed the sentiment of commitment to sustainability:
“Lytton Enterprises Ltd. and Knebworth Estates remain dedicated to minimising our ecological footprint through responsible energy practices. We are excited to welcome GRIDSERVE in October to cater to the needs of our residents, staff, visitors, and the wider community.”
For a glimpse into the future of sustainable transportation and energy solutions, the GRIDSERVE Electric Forecourt at Knebworth Estate stands as a beacon of progress towards a greener, cleaner future.
