Kia expands network to over 800k charging points

Kia Charge, the electric vehicle charging service by Kia, has achieved a significant milestone by surpassing 800,000 charging points all across Europe. This impressive feat highlights the continuous growth and expansion of the network, which now covers 28 countries in Europe. Since Q2 2024, the network has seen a 10% increase, and a substantial growth of 39% since Q2 2023.

Launched in February 2021, Kia Charge was designed to streamline public EV charging for Kia customers. The service provides a convenient one-stop solution for charging, ensuring that Kia owners can easily recharge their vehicles hassle-free.

With over 100,000 subscribers already on board, Kia Charge has facilitated more than 2.5 million charging sessions. Customers can utilize either their Kia Charge card or the Kia Charge app to activate the charging process and power up their vehicles.

Moreover, the network offers access to over 4,200 ultra-fast charging stations on the Ionity network. This network is set to expand significantly, with projections indicating a growth to over 17,000 stations by the year 2030.

Martin Enthofer, the director of customer experience strategy and solutions at Kia Europe, emphasised the importance of keeping pace with the increasing adoption of electric vehicles. He stated, “As more electric vehicles hit the road, it’s crucial to have a corresponding increase in charging points to ensure our customers can easily charge their vehicles. Kia remains at the forefront of making electric driving more accessible to a wider audience, with Kia Charge simplifying and enhancing every journey.”

Kia Charge offers a comprehensive charging solution that covers route planning, authentication, account management, and payment. The service is complemented by the Kia EV Route Planner, which seamlessly integrates with the vehicle’s navigation system to detect charging stations along the route and add them as waypoints automatically, making it effortless for customers to locate and utilize charging points.
