Community funds 14 projects in Argyll and Bute.
Fourteen diverse community projects in Argyll and Bute have been awarded a total of £365,000 from the Scottish Government’s Community-Led Local Development Fund (CLLD). This initiative empowers local communities to address their unique challenges through initiatives focused on eradicating child poverty, boosting the economy, tackling the climate crisis, and enhancing public services.
Under the oversight of the Argyll and the Islands Local Action Group (LAG), the fund is administered by the council to support a wide range of projects. These projects include the establishment of a new family centre in Oban and the development of a community gym on Tiree.
Councillor Math Campbell-Sturgess, the council’s policy lead for business development, emphasised the significance of the Community-Led Local Development Fund in enabling community groups to address local issues effectively.
