BVRLA reveals new leader

The British Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association (BVRLA) has recently announced Toby Poston as its incoming Chief Executive starting in 2025, following the retirement of current Chief Executive Gerry Keaney at the end of this year.

Poston, who has been with the BVRLA for sixteen years, is currently serving as the Director of Corporate Affairs, overseeing policy and public affairs, communications, events, research, and fleet services. As of 1 January 2025, he will take on the prestigious role of Chief Executive.

Throughout his tenure with the BVRLA, Poston has been the primary spokesperson for the association, playing a crucial role in navigating the industry through significant challenges such as Brexit, the Covid-19 pandemic, and incidents involving rental vehicles and terrorism.

Prior to joining the BVRLA, Poston worked in journalism and editorial for over a decade, with the majority of his experience at the BBC Business & Economics Unit, honing his skills in communication and strategic thinking.

Chairman of the BVRLA, Jon Lawes, expressed utmost confidence in Poston’s ability to lead the association during the uncertain times ahead. He commended Poston for his transformative work with the policy and public affairs team, noting a substantial rise in the association’s influence under his leadership.

Lawes stated, “He brings exceptional industry knowledge and a deep understanding of the varied needs of our members. His strategic vision, dedication to member value, and intimate knowledge of the BVRLA team have truly impressed us.”

Reacting to his upcoming role as Chief Executive, Toby Poston shared his enthusiasm and gratitude for the opportunity to continue working with an industry, membership, and team that he holds in high regard.

Poston remarked, “I am thrilled and honoured to have the chance to further enhance the reputation and capabilities of the BVRLA. My focus will be on supporting members in their pursuit of decarbonization and adapting to the rapidly evolving regulatory landscape.”

“While embracing change and challenges that lie ahead, I am committed to ensuring that the association is well-equipped for the future and capable of responding effectively,” Poston added.

As Toby Poston prepares to take on his new role as Chief Executive, the BVRLA looks ahead to a phase of transformation and growth under his leadership.
