CHAP Group Completes Dundee Student Flats

CHAP Group has achieved a significant milestone by completing the topping out ceremony of its latest student accommodation project on Douglas Street in Dundee. The event, held on Friday 27th September, was graced by Councillor Steven Rome, Dundee City Council convener of Fair Work, Economic Growth and Infrastructure, along with James Williamson, the development officer (Tourism, Marketing & Investment).

Representing CHAP Group were Andy McNair, the group’s pre-construction director, and Paul Matthew, the area construction director, accompanied by the CHAP site team and key supply chain partners like JDR, Acreo, RC Fire, Martin Allan, IAS Scaffold, and G2. The ceremony signified the completion of the building’s structure and underlined CHAP Group’s dedication to enhancing the local landscape and providing top-notch living spaces for students.

The Douglas Street project is set to offer 98 studios with modern amenities, sustainable design, and spacious communal areas, catering to the needs of contemporary students. “Today marks an important step forward for our Douglas Street project,” remarked Paul Matthew, the area construction director. “We are proud to contribute to Dundee’s growth and create a welcoming environment for students. We extend our gratitude to everyone involved for their unwavering commitment in bringing this vision to fruition.”

Councillor Steven Rome, impressed by the progress of the project, emphasised its importance for the city. “We are keen to ensure that Dundee remains an attractive destination for students to come and study. Projects like this not only benefit local companies but also align with our vision of community wealth building,” he added. The purpose-built student accommodation on Douglas Street is expected to have a positive impact on the wider Dundee housing market, particularly with the increased demand for tenemental properties.

The completion of the Douglas Street accommodation is on schedule for the 2025 student intake, making it a valuable addition to the city’s educational infrastructure and reinforcing Dundee’s reputation as a student-friendly city.
