Exciting news from the technology world as Wärtsilä, the renowned technology group, has announced the renewal of its Operations & Maintenance (O&M) agreement for the 105 MW power plant owned by Ndola Energy Company Ltd (NECL) in Zambia.
This power plant, equipped with six Wärtsilä 32 engines and twin turbochargers, plays a crucial role in supporting Zambia’s electricity supply. As the country primarily relies on hydropower, the recent drought has significantly impacted electricity generation. In such challenging times, the NECL plant stands as a pillar of reliability in ensuring a steady electricity supply.
Dr. Brian Mushimba, the CEO of NECL, expressed his confidence in Wärtsilä’s capabilities by stating, ‘We have a longstanding partnership with Wärtsilä, and we are certain that they will continue to operate and maintain the plant efficiently to uphold a reliable electricity supply.’
Marc Thiriet, the Energy Business Director for Africa at Wärtsilä Energy, highlighted the company’s dedication to customer satisfaction. He stated, ‘We believe in nurturing long-term partnerships with our clients. This agreement renewal exemplifies our commitment to assisting customers throughout the lifecycle of their installations, ensuring sustained productivity and profitability. Moreover, our enduring presence enables us to contribute to the local economy and community in nations like Zambia.’
