Susan Manion is new deputy leader of West Lothian Council

Councillor Susan Manion has been appointed as the new depute leader of West Lothian Council, replacing Councillor Kirsteen Sullivan who formally resigned from the position at a meeting held on Tuesday, 24th September.

Councillor Manion represents the Armadale and Blackridge ward and expressed her gratitude for being nominated and selected for the role. She thanked Councillor Sullivan for her service and pledged to continue the good work while striving to deliver essential services for the people of West Lothian, despite the financial challenges faced by all councils.

Councillor Sullivan, who has served as Depute Leader since 2017, will continue to serve as a ward councillor in the Whitburn and Blackburn ward, where she was first elected in 2017. She was elected as an MP for the UK Parliament constituency of Bathgate and Linlithgow in the General Election held in July 2024.

Expressing her gratitude for the opportunity to serve the residents of West Lothian, Councillor Sullivan congratulated Councillor Manion on her selection and assured her full support in the new role.

The Leader of West Lothian Council, Lawrence Fitzpatrick, extended his congratulations to Councillor Susan Manion and anticipated a collaborative effort in safeguarding key public services. He also acknowledged and appreciated Councillor Sullivan’s significant contributions during her seven-year tenure in the role.

West Lothian Council comprises 33 Elected Members representing nine wards, reflecting a diverse and representative body dedicated to serving the needs of the community.
