Alexander Dennis provides electric buses for Cobra Corporate.
Bus manufacturer Alexander Dennis has recently supplied two new electric buses to Cobra Corporate Services, building on their previous successful deployment of eight similar vehicles two years ago for a corporate contract with Sky in Livingston, Scotland. These buses provide essential links to railway stations and local facilities, offering a sustainable transportation solution for the community.
Cobra Corporate Services has taken a holistic system approach to the latest zero-emission buses, collaborating with multiple companies to ensure a reliable and efficient solution. Alexander Dennis constructed these environmentally friendly buses on BYD chassis and offers spare parts and service through its AD24 aftermarket division.
The ownership of these vehicles falls under Dawsongroup bus and coach, who have provided them to Cobra through a fully supported contract hire solution for operation on behalf of Sky. EO Charging has taken charge of providing and managing the ongoing maintenance of the charging infrastructure, which was installed by BES Group.
The charging infrastructure at Livingston consists of two dual 120kW chargers, installed by BES Group using infrastructure manufactured by ABB and supplied by EO Charging, the latter also offering ongoing maintenance and their fleet management software, EO Cloud.
Steve Dowling, Director at Cobra Corporate Services Limited, expressed his satisfaction with the new electric buses, stating, “Our new Enviro200EV at Livingston have been in service for a few months now and they are performing very reliably. We have a solid solution using DC infrastructure, which really is the gold standard for electric bus charging, working better and giving us more options, more confidence and more operational flexibility.”
Mark Taylor, Regional Sales Manager for Alexander Dennis, commented, “We are delighted to have worked with our friends and partners to deliver this reliable system solution for Cobra and their client Sky, and to continue to support the ongoing operation through AD24. This is a landmark project for sustainable travel options which demonstrates the potential of zero-emission buses on corporate contracts.”
Fraser Innes, Sales Director for Dawsongroup bus and coach, congratulated Cobra Corporate Services on the successful rollout of their sustainable staff transport service to a second site, emphasizing the importance of sustainable practices and innovation. He further expressed his pleasure in supporting their efforts with a flexible package that meets their needs and showcases their commitment to sustainability.
Philip Kershaw, Director of eBus at EO Charging, highlighted the significance of their involvement in providing essential charging infrastructure and maintenance support for Cobra’s electric bus fleet. Working alongside BES Group, they ensure that the charging stations are reliable and optimized for performance, reducing downtime and enhancing operational efficiency.
Andrew Livesey, Managing Director – Electrical Division for BES Group, mentioned their excitement in continuing their partnership with Cobra Corporate Services on this innovative project. Their collaboration with EO Charging has been crucial in providing a comprehensive charging infrastructure solution for Sky, setting the stage for future projects to accelerate the transition to a low-carbon future.
