Sainsbury’s teams up with Allstar for Smart Charge.

Exciting Partnership Announcement: Allstar Named First B2B Roaming Partner for Sainsbury’s Smart Charge EV Service

Big news in the world of electric vehicles (EV), fuel, and business expenses as Allstar, a leading company in this field, has been selected by Sainsbury’s as its premier B2B roaming partner for its electric vehicle charging service, Smart Charge.

What does this mean for Allstar customers? Well, now they have the fantastic opportunity to charge their EVs at 58 EV hubs located at Sainsbury’s stores across the nation. As an added bonus, drivers can also earn Nectar points while they recharge their vehicles. And to sweeten the deal, until October 25th, Smart Charge is offering a whopping x10 Nectar points for first-time chargers.

Recent research commissioned by Sainsbury’s revealed that a staggering 80% of EV users admitted to avoiding long journeys due to reluctance to charge at public EV stations. Their main gripes included broken chargers (40%), insufficient charging bays (36%), and slow service (33%).

On the flip side, Allstar’s AllCosts report showcased a 264% increase in the usage of public EV chargers amongst Allstar customers compared to the same period twelve months prior, proving a significant demand for efficient and reliable charging facilities while on the road. This underscores the necessity of partnerships that cater to the needs of all drivers.

This exciting collaboration sees Allstar, powered by its sister company Plugsurfing, becoming Sainsbury’s first B2B roaming partner for Smart Charge. The relationship stems from over two decades of successful business between Allstar and Sainsbury’s for fuel, now extending to cutting-edge charging technology utilising 100% renewable electricity that powers Sainsbury’s establishments.

With ultra-rapid 150kw chargers that can potentially charge vehicles up to 80% in less than half an hour, customers now have the convenience of quick top-ups while enjoying a leisurely lunch or taking a work call, ensuring they’re back on the road promptly. Moreover, charging services are available round the clock, 365 days a year.

Earlier this year, Sainsbury’s introduced Smart Charge, a fresh electric vehicle charging project aimed at granting drivers access to ultra-rapid EV charging points at its UK stores.

Patrick Dunne, Sainsbury’s Director of Property, Procurement & EV Ventures, expressed his enthusiasm regarding the partnership with Allstar, envisioning it as a significant step towards making EV charging simple and accessible for all, offering a network of over 475 bays at more than 58 locations nationwide.

Paul Holland, Managing Director for UK/ANZ Fleet at Corpay, including the UK brand Allstar, echoed this excitement, highlighting the company’s commitment to providing superior payment solutions for customers, be it fuel, road or home EV charging. Through alliances like Sainsbury’s Smart Charge, Allstar aims to align with forward-thinking brands to create a fast, convenient, and accessible EV charging landscape for drivers throughout the UK.

With such innovative partnerships and a shared vision for the future of EV charging, the collaboration between Allstar and Sainsbury’s heralds a new era in sustainable and seamless driving experiences.
