New project aims to create eco-friendly home heating solutions!
Businesses across Scotland are being given the exciting opportunity to participate in an innovative project aimed at revolutionising heating solutions for homes. The West Dunbartonshire Council has secured funding from Scottish Enterprise for the Can Do Green Heat Retrofit Innovation Challenge and is now calling for companies to submit proposals.
The council is looking to partner with up to three companies to develop cutting-edge technology and concepts for net-zero heating and hot water supply systems in various types of properties. The goal is to create solutions that are not only environmentally friendly but also affordable for tenants. Each selected company will have access to a generous £50,000 grant.
If successful, the proposed concepts may move into the prototype phase, with the potential for additional funding from Scottish Enterprise to trial the technology in actual homes. While inspiration can be drawn from other industries, the solutions must be original and not currently in existence.
During a three-month collaboration period, the chosen bidders will receive guidance from experts at West Dunbartonshire Council and North Lanarkshire Council to assess the technical and commercial viability of their ideas. The focus will be on maximising efficiency and quality in retrofitting social housing to benefit both tenants and the environment.
Peter Barry, Chief Officer of Housing and Employability, expressed his enthusiasm for the project, highlighting the region’s track record of innovative heating technologies. He emphasised the importance of exploring new opportunities to develop technology tailored to specific housing scenarios.
“I am thrilled that West Dunbartonshire Council’s application for this funding has been successful. This project will pave the way for further innovation in the housing sector, potentially leading to the widespread adoption of cost-effective heating solutions throughout Scotland,” Barry stated.
