New Energy HQ in Aberdeen for Great Britain

Great British Energy will set up its headquarters in Aberdeen, with satellite offices in Edinburgh and Glasgow, as per the recent announcement by the UK Government. Following the establishment of the main headquarters in Aberdeen, two additional sites in Edinburgh and Glasgow will open to leverage local talents and expertise. Initially, the company will operate from government premises in these cities, transitioning to permanent bases in due course.

An interim chief executive will soon be appointed to spearhead the launch of the company and develop its Aberdeen base, alongside startup chair Juergen Maier, former CEO of Siemens UK.

Energy secretary Ed Miliband has presented the Great British Energy Bill in Parliament and, in collaboration with the Prime Minister, unveiled a new partnership with The Crown Estate to expedite the development of new offshore wind farms. The company aims to attract private investments in the UK’s clean energy sector, supported by government funding amounting to £8.3 billion over the current Parliamentary term.
