JR Group celebrates council housing triumph.

Construction firm The JR Group has achieved a major milestone by expanding its presence on the prestigious Scotland Excel New Build Residential Construction framework, reflecting the company’s remarkable growth trajectory.

The company has been designated as an approved contractor across the Scottish mainland, allowing Scottish councils and housing associations in need of a construction company for new build housing projects to leverage its expertise.

The framework represents a rigorous process that empowers public sector bodies to procure new build developments to address the requirements of the Scottish affordable housing sector.

The successful tender bid could potentially open up lucrative opportunities for The JR Group.

Andrew Dallas, project director, expressed, “It is anticipated that the framework will generate £375 million worth of work annually, enabling us to bid for all projects arising in the nine regions we applied for over the next two years. The framework is segmented into five lots, ranging from small projects comprising one to 16 units to larger projects exceeding 81 homes.”

He further stated, “While we have previously been part of the framework, the growth within The JR Group has led to our inclusion in all lots. This achievement marks a significant success for us and has the potential to offer us a substantial amount of work in delivering new homes for local council authorities and housing associations across mainland Scotland.”

Andrew also highlighted the company’s strong reputation for reliability and construction of high-quality homes, emphasizing their ability to seamlessly complete projects utilizing in-house divisions such as DC Timber Systems, which specializes in designing, manufacturing, and erecting full timber frame kits necessary for building homes.

With Scotland facing an urgent need for more housing, The JR Group is pleased to contribute to the construction of new homes through the framework, looking forward to accomplishing projects in the coming two years.

One of the latest projects completed by The JR Group under its previous involvement in the framework was the development of energy-efficient new homes at Glasgow Road in Stirling. The £2 million project involved the construction of one- and two-bedroom main door flats, each featuring individual door access, garden space, and parking, on the site of former high-rise flats demolished in 2022.

Reflecting on this project, Andrew said, “Projects like Glasgow Road in Stirling have allowed us to showcase the quality of our work. Sustainability was a key focus, and these homes incorporate features to maximize energy efficiency, such as triple-glazed windows, photovoltaic (PV) panels with battery storage, and automatic fire suppression systems.”

He continued, “This designation will enable us to undertake larger projects, ensuring more of Scotland’s new affordable homes are constructed to our exacting standards.”
