Fraikin adds electric 3.5 ton vans to rental fleet.

Fraikin, a leading commercial fleet and mobility services provider, has recently announced a substantial multi-million-pound investment in its national short-term rental fleet, which includes the introduction of electric vehicles (EVs) to cater to the growing demand for sustainable transportation solutions.

Fraikin is taking steps to expand and modernise its rental offerings for customers throughout the UK

This significant investment of £35 million will see the addition of 400 new vehicles, aimed at enhancing and modernising the company’s services for customers across the UK.

In line with the increasing focus on reducing carbon footprints, Fraikin will be incorporating a range of fully electric 3.5-tonne vehicles into its fleet. These electric vehicles will enable customers to swiftly and effectively decrease their environmental impact, with the added support of EV suitability assessments.

Peter Backhouse, the CEO of Fraikin in the UK, expressed his enthusiasm for the initiative, stating, “By introducing more EVs into our fleet, we are not only assisting businesses in their efforts to minimise their environmental footprint but also aiding those who wish to explore the EV market before committing to long-term fleet decisions. Our commitment to sustainability enables us to address present needs while contributing to a greener future within the industry.”

The substantial investment will encompass a variety of vehicles, including vans, light commercial vehicles (LCVs), and heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) sourced from prominent manufacturers. The new fleet will comprise various body types, such as refrigerated, dropside, curtainside, and box bodies, in addition to specialised equipment like Moffett carriers.

With the introduction of these new vehicles, 80% of Fraikin’s total rental fleet will consist of vehicles less than 12 months old, ensuring a modern and efficient fleet for customers.

All vehicles in the fleet will comply with Transport for London’s Direct Vision Standard (DVS) and be equipped with Fraikin’s cutting-edge digital Mysmartfleet connected technologies package. This technology offers a range of features including vehicle tracking, route optimisation, digital vehicle checks, tachograph downloads, driver behaviour reporting, and EV suitability assessments.

Backhouse reiterated the company’s commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction, stating, “This substantial investment underscores Fraikin’s strength, long-term dedication to the industry, and commitment to offering top-tier mobility solutions to customers. We aim to provide access to the latest vehicles and the most extensive range of rental options available in the current market landscape.”
