Be.EV launching EV chargers at 4 shops
National electric vehicle (EV) charging network Be.EV is on the move, announcing the rollout of 38 ultra-rapid chargers across four prominent shopping centres in a deal valued at up to £3.5 million.
These four shopping centres – Corby Town Centre Shopping in Corby, North Northamptonshire, One Stop Shopping in Perry Barr, Birmingham, Priory Shopping Centre in Dartford, Kent, and Yate Shopping Centre in Yate, South Gloucestershire – are set to transform into hubs for EV drivers, positioning themselves as leading destinations with the introduction of these cutting-edge chargers.
The addition of these chargers will significantly elevate the charging infrastructure in South Gloucestershire, an area identified as having a shortage of EV chargers. Once operational, this hub is expected to provide a substantial boost to the region’s charging capabilities, facilitating smoother journeys for EV drivers and enhancing the overall shopping experience for visitors.
With leading retailers such as Tesco, ASDA, Sainsbury’s, Primark, M&S Outlet, Costa, B&M, Home Bargains, and more dotting these shopping centres, the installation of ultra-rapid chargers aims to cater to the diverse needs of customers, combining shopping convenience with sustainable transportation options.
Equipped with state-of-the-art Kempower chargers boasting capacities of up to 150kW, these chargers can add an impressive 165 miles of range in just 20 minutes. The innovative dynamic load-balancing feature further enhances the charging experience, ensuring efficient power distribution based on demand and capacity, thus optimising the charging process.
Be.EV, backed by Magnetar Capital and operating as one of the fastest-growing EV charge point operators in the UK, is spearheading this initiative. With the majority ownership under Octopus Energy Generation and receiving substantial funding pledges totalling £110 million, Be.EV is well-poised to establish itself as a trusted and reliable charge point operator across the UK.
Recent financial backing of £55 million from NatWest and KfW-IPEX Bank further bolsters Be.EV’s position in the market, solidifying its commitment to delivering high-quality charging solutions for EV users and communities.
Asif Ghafoor, the CEO of Be.EV, expressed his enthusiasm about the partnership and the opportunity it presents to enhance the charging infrastructure at shopping centres, driving increased footfall and revenue for retailers.
On the partnership front, Tim Williams of Northdale Advisors Ltd echoed similar sentiments, highlighting the strategic importance of this collaboration in line with their wider ESG strategy, emphasising the positive impact this initiative will have on customers and retailers alike.
With an eye on sustainable practices and customer satisfaction, Be.EV continues to lead the way in providing efficient and effective charging solutions for EV drivers, positioning itself as a key player in the evolving landscape of electric vehicle infrastructure.
