Extra Support for Aberdeen Families This Winter
Families in Aberdeen are set to receive a welcome boost this winter with an additional winter clothing payment. If you are already receiving the school clothing grant for the 2024/25 school year, you can expect an extra £30 payment by the end of the month, courtesy of the Aberdeen City Council.
Co-leader of the council, Councillor Christian Allard, highlighted the importance of these payments during the challenging winter months: “Winter can be a tough time for many families, and these payments serve as a lifeline for those who are struggling. If you are worried about increasing costs or facing financial difficulties, do not hesitate to reach out to our services and partners for the support you are entitled to.”
Councillor Desmond Bouse, the vice-convener for anti-poverty and inequality, echoed these sentiments, emphasising the council’s commitment to assisting families in need: “Our goal is to provide ongoing support to families who require assistance. The additional winter clothing payment will not only benefit families directly but also ensure that all children have the necessary essentials throughout the colder months.”
Are you eligible for the school clothing grant? This support is available to families whose children attend Aberdeen City Council schools, or are about to start Primary 1, and are receiving benefits such as Income Support, Universal Credit, and Housing Benefit. Additionally, students who receive Education Maintenance Allowance can also apply for a school clothing grant for themselves.
