Changeworks’ Green Energy Helpline debuts
Changeworks, an environmental charity, has unveiled an innovative solution to ensure that no one gets left behind in the crucial shift towards achieving net zero emissions. Thanks to funding from SP Energy Networks, the Green Energy Helpline is now operational. This helpline is specifically designed to offer personalised guidance to households in Central and Southern Scotland, assisting them in embracing low-carbon, sustainable technologies both within and outside their homes.
Given the escalating climate crisis and a surge in the number of people grappling with fuel poverty, it has become imperative to educate customers on transitioning to more sustainable energy practices. By reaching out to the Green Energy Helpline at Changeworks, individuals can access customised, expert advice on incorporating low-carbon technologies, understanding smart meters, selecting suitable tariffs, and adopting electric vehicles.
Changeworks boasts accredited advisors who engage with thousands of individuals annually, offering cutting-edge insights on energy efficiency and low carbon technology. By leveraging the charity’s diverse expertise, customers can not only receive recommendations on sustainable energy usage and technologies but also get comprehensive support on matters like fuel debt and billing complications.
Through its collaboration with SP Energy Networks, Changeworks has introduced an additional support channel to its existing suite of services, which already encompasses the provision of Home Energy Scotland services in the Highlands and Islands as well as the South-East of Scotland, along with its joint venture, Warmworks.
Josiah Lockhart, the chief executive of Changeworks, expressed his vision, stating: “Our primary goal is to assist households all across Scotland in accessing the necessary advice and assistance as we work towards decarbonising homes in the region. Over the past year, Changeworks has dispensed energy advice to over 64,000 households, making a tangible impact. However, there is still more work to be done to guarantee that everyone is included. This new service will enable us to extend our support to a larger demographic across Scotland on their journey towards achieving net zero.”
Kendal Morris, the customer service director at SP Energy Networks, highlighted the essential role of service providers in tackling issues like fuel poverty and ensuring that all individuals can reap the benefits of low carbon technologies. He praised the partnership with Changeworks for empowering customers with the necessary information and assistance to take advantage of the opportunities that come with adopting low carbon technologies, thereby steering them towards a sustainable future.
