Affordable homes delight Anniesland tenants!

Partick Housing Association (PHA) has recently unveiled its latest development, an impressive 46-home project located at Bearsden Road in Anniesland. This new development has been met with enthusiasm and support from members of Glasgow City Council, who recently paid a visit to witness the completion of this significant housing initiative in the west of the city.

The project, which took 18 months to complete, was a collaborative effort between Partick Housing Association, contractors CCG, and various departments of Glasgow City Council. The new development offers a mix of one and two-bedroom flats, catering to both social rented and mid-market rent housing options.

Councillor Kenny McLean, housing convener at Glasgow City Council, expressed his excitement about the completion of this new development, stating, “These social and mid-market-rent flats in Anniesland will meet the needs of a range of people and bring new life to this site beside the canal. These are much-needed homes in this part of the city, and the council was delighted to support this development, which I’m sure will be a great place to live.”

Helen Turner, the chair of Partick Housing Association, also shared her delight, saying, “We’re thrilled to be marking the completion of our latest development. These wonderful new flats have transformed a vacant site and provided much-needed quality affordable homes in the West of Glasgow.” Stewart MacKenzie, the association’s chief executive, extended his gratitude to all involved, stating, “Thanks to the council, our funders, other partners and the community for their support at Bearsden Road. These new homes will transform the lives of everyone who moves in.”

The development comprises two blocks of flats up to five storeys high, offering a renewed frontage to Bearsden Road and Crow Road, serving as an iconic gateway to Anniesland. It features resident parking, outdoor amenity space with public art, and a new pedestrian and cycle path next to the bustling Forth & Clyde Canal, enhancing the overall community experience.

CCG managing director, David Wylie, expressed his satisfaction with the completion of the project, highlighting the collaborative effort between CCG, Partick Housing Association, and MAST Architects. He said, “It shows how collaboration and partnership working can unlock challenging sites to deliver much-needed affordable housing, and the results speak for themselves as it is a great addition to this buoyant West End community.”

This £10 million development was made possible through a combination of funding from Partick Housing Association and grant funding from Glasgow City Council. The completion of these new homes coincided with Scottish Housing Day 2024, which celebrates successes in Scotland’s housing sector.
