12 new homes to be built in Dunfermline

Fife Council is making strides in providing much-needed housing solutions by progressing plans to build 12 new council houses in Milesmark, Dunfermline. The council’s cabinet committee has given the green light for a contract with Dundas Estates and Development Co Ltd to carry out the construction of these new homes.
Located on land just off Carnock Road and Rumblingwell, opposite the junction to The Castings, the properties will comprise six 3-bedroom terraced houses, two 2-bedroom semi-detached houses, and four 2-bedroom cottage flats. This development is set to address the pressing need for more affordable housing in the area.
Anticipated to commence later this year, the construction work is expected to be completed by late 2025, with the new homes ready to welcome their first tenants. Cllr Judy Hamilton, the housing spokesperson, expressed her delight at the progress of Fife’s Affordable Housing Programme, which stands as one of the largest social house-building initiatives in the UK.
She stressed the importance of continuing to meet the high demands for housing services amidst a housing crisis. Each newly constructed home marks a significant milestone in providing modern, energy-efficient, and affordable housing solutions for individuals and families in need.
Cllr Hamilton highlighted the transformative impact that these new homes will have on the wellbeing of tenants, offering secure and comfortable living environments. Not only does the Affordable Housing Programme increase housing availability, but it also plays a pivotal role in creating employment opportunities and apprenticeships, thereby bolstering the construction sector and boosting the local economy.
