First look at new Livingston care home

A sneak peek at the newly completed ‘Almond Valley Care Home’ in Livingston has been unveiled by Morrison Community Care (CCG) Holdco.

Situated in Almondside, just south of the bustling town centre, this purpose-built facility is designed to cater specifically to elderly individuals over the age of sixty-five. It is the most recent project completed by the collaboration between Morrison Community Care Group and CCG (Scotland).

The partnership between these two companies dates back to 2017, progressing to a joint venture in 2021. Their primary goal has been to repurpose brownfield sites nationwide into top-quality care homes.

Paul Sokhi, the managing director of Morrison Community Care Group, stated, “Our involvement in the Scottish care sector dates back to the late 1980s. While originally operating care services, we have since shifted our focus to development, expanding our reach to encompass the entire United Kingdom and Ireland.”

“We are dedicated to understanding the needs of the elderly community on a local level. However, with an ageing population across the UK and Ireland, there is a growing strain on healthcare services, particularly the NHS. Hence, it is imperative to provide additional support to those in need,” Sokhi added.

“Sites like Almond Valley exemplify our approach to development. Initially, the site may not have seemed suitable for a care home, but now, this exceptional facility will not only meet the local demand for care services but will also generate 100 job opportunities.”

“After a year of construction, I am thrilled with the outcome and extend my gratitude to our outstanding partners, including our development team, design team, and construction partner, CCG, for bringing our vision to life,” Sokhi concluded.

The care home is now open for residents, offering round-the-clock residential, nursing, and dementia care services, accompanied by various integrated amenities.

Residents can enjoy private en-suite bedrooms, a cinema, hair salon, spa, champagne bar, dining rooms staffed by professional chefs, visitor café, private family rooms, and landscaped communal grounds. Additionally, weekly outdoor leisure activities in collaboration with local community groups and small businesses will support residents’ health and emotional well-being.

The construction of the facility was overseen by CCG (Scotland) with collaboration from Holmes Miller Architects, Design Me, Cowal Design, and CRGP Surveyors.

David Wylie, the managing director of CCG, remarked, “The completion of Almond Valley marks another significant milestone in our partnership with Morrison Community Care. With over 300 bed spaces developed across Scotland since 2017, we are confronting the challenges of the care sector head-on, repurposing land and utilizing advanced construction techniques to deliver inviting, high-quality facilities.”

“From care homes in Glasgow, Penicuik, Perth to the upcoming project in Linlithgow set to commence by year-end, our dedication remains steadfast. We extend our gratitude to all project partners for their support throughout the construction process and offer our best wishes to the future residents,” Wylie concluded.
