The Wee House Group Raises Funds for MSA Trust in Memory of Colleague
Ayrshire-based construction firms Connect Modular and The Wee House Company have come together to raise a remarkable amount of money for the Multiple System Atrophy (MSA) Trust. This initiative was sparked by a charity ‘Games Day’ organised for their staff and subcontractors.
The fundraising event took place on Friday 30th August, featuring staff engaging in a variety of challenges and activities such as pool, darts, dominoes, and cards. As of now, the event has successfully raised £1052, with the JustGiving page still open for contributions.
This charitable endeavour was dedicated to the memory of Kenneth Clarke, a former colleague of the Wee House Group. Kenneth was diagnosed with the rare neurological disorder, Multiple System Atrophy (MSA), in 2021 and sadly passed away in June this year. He was a talented graphic designer who played a significant role in creating the brand logos for Connect Modular and The Wee House Company, leaving a lasting legacy within the company.
CEO of The Wee House Group, Jennifer Higgins, expressed her gratitude towards everyone who contributed to the fundraiser. She highlighted the importance of not only raising funds but also spreading awareness about MSA and the work of the MSA Trust.
Multiple System Atrophy is a devastating progressive neurological disease that impacts various basic functions of the body. It causes deterioration in crucial areas of the brain required for movement, balance, swallowing, and speech. Unfortunately, MSA results in premature death, with no known cause or cure at present. The MSA Trust is the sole organisation in the UK and Ireland dedicated to supporting individuals affected by MSA, with a mission to discover the cause and develop a cure for the disease.
While that day may be in the future, the MSA Trust continues to provide essential support to those affected by the condition, ensuring they are not alone on their challenging journeys.
Eleanor Jarvis, the Events, Community, and Digital Fundraising Officer at the MSA Trust, acknowledged the significant impact of MSA on individuals and families. She emphasised the importance of fundraising efforts like the one carried out in memory of Kenneth Clarke, as they enable the Trust to sustain its crucial work in the absence of government funding.
