Clackmannanshire locals given choices for RAAC apartments

Residents in Clackmannanshire who were evacuated from their homes due to unsafe reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete (RAAC) have received an update on the options being considered by the local authority.

Almost a year ago, homeowners were moved out of their flats after a survey revealed that RAAC in three blocks of flats, with 30 homes, was in poor condition. As a result, these buildings were deemed unsafe. The affected buildings include 75-97 Chapelle Crescent, 6-22 Park Street, and 35-51 High Street in Tillicoultry.

The written update, also shared with elected members, offers residents a range of options to contemplate regarding the future of the properties. One of the options being considered is allowing residents to sell their properties at valuations from before the RAAC issue was identified.

A detailed report on these options will be presented to the council in the upcoming days.

Councillor Jane McTaggart, spokesperson for housing and property, expressed, “I am glad that affected local residents have been given a written update on this challenging situation. The council acknowledges that this is a distressing time for those involved and assures ongoing communication with those impacted by RAAC and their representatives.

“We are committed to offering continued support and updates to those directly affected as new information becomes available.”
