Aberdeen Cyrenians partners with Prax Foundation Roots.

Aberdeen Cyrenians, a charity and social care provider dedicated to addressing homelessness, violence, domestic abuse, and other forms of social exclusion in the North East, has announced a partnership with Prax Foundation Roots, the charitable arm of the Prax Group – a British multinational energy company. This collaboration signifies Prax’s commitment to the Aberdeen region, following the establishment of an office in the city last year.

Prax Foundation Roots has initiated a monthly funding contribution, as well as providing a monthly food shop and occasional donations of office furniture to support Aberdeen Cyrenians. Additionally, the Prax Group will be offering corporate volunteering opportunities to its staff, allowing them to engage in activities such as assisting in the charity’s warehouse or community kitchen, Café Chat, participating in renovation projects, and contributing to fundraising efforts.

One of the key initiatives planned by Aberdeen Cyrenians and Prax Foundation Roots is the introduction of local School Breakfast Clubs, aimed at providing nutritious breakfast options to children who may otherwise begin their school day on an empty stomach. The goal is to promote healthy eating habits, improve attendance rates, and enhance concentration levels in schools across the region.

Donna Hutchison, CEO of Aberdeen Cyrenians, expressed her enthusiasm about the partnership with Prax Foundation Roots, highlighting the crucial role it plays in enabling the charity to sustain essential services for the most vulnerable individuals in the community. Reflecting on the increasing number of service users across all programs, Hutchison emphasised the significance of ongoing support from dedicated team members and generous contributions from corporate donors.

Sanjeev Kumar Soosaipillai, chairman and CEO of the Prax Group, reiterated the company’s commitment to being a responsible neighbour and supporting the communities in which they operate. With a physical presence in Aberdeen, Soosaipillai stressed the importance of extending their support to the local community through Prax Foundation Roots, with a focus on positively impacting the lives of vulnerable and socially excluded individuals in North-East Scotland.
