Swiss grid upgraded with new software

Monday 2 September 2024

Swiss electricity producer Repower enhances its services through collaboration with technology provider

Repower, one of Switzerland’s leading electricity producers, has joined forces with technology solutions provider Volue to elevate its services to new heights.

Volue’s cutting-edge software is set to revolutionise Repower’s operations, particularly its flexible hydropower plants. The collaboration aims to streamline auction bidding processes, facilitate continuous trading on the European Power Exchange Spot Market (EPEX), and ensure the grid’s stability by acquiring essential resources.

Dario Castagnoli, Repower’s Head of Trading, Origination and IT, expressed his optimism about the partnership, stating, ‘Volue will empower us to optimise the potential of our flexible asset park. This will enhance Repower’s involvement in continuous trading and balancing markets, while also simplifying our bidding procedures.’

He added, ‘Volue’s software, including Ancitra and Volue Auction Bidding, serves as automated bidding support tools for reserve ancillary service markets and auction markets, respectively. Furthermore, Volue Algo Trader Power allows customers to customise algorithms and commence trading promptly, offering a reliable platform for automated intraday trading.’

Repower currently oversees an electricity grid spanning approximately 3,000 kilometres, making it the primary distribution grid operator in the canton of Grisons, Switzerland.
