Most Europcar drivers now in electric cars

Europcar Mobility Group UK is making great strides in reducing emissions within its own fleet through a new partnership with CBVC Vehicle Management. The latest deal extends the collaboration for another three years after a successful initial carbon reduction programme that saw the average CO2 per company car plummet from 129g/km to an impressive 29g/km. In fact, nearly 80% of Europcar Mobility Group UK company car drivers now cruise around in battery electric vehicles.
This commitment to slashing carbon emissions in its company car fleet underscores Europcar’s dedication to sustainability and showcases its ongoing efforts to lead the way in decarbonisation. Mark Newberry, the commercial director and sustainability spokesperson at Europcar, emphasised the importance of demonstrating understanding and support for businesses looking to reduce emissions on their own fleets. By collaborating with CBVC, Europcar has developed a streamlined solution that makes it simple for employees to make the transition to electric vehicles.
Research conducted among Europcar company car drivers who switched to electric vehicles revealed some encouraging findings. An overwhelming 78% reported that the range of their electric vehicle either met or exceeded their expectations, with 48% stating that it exceeded their expectations. Additionally, nearly a quarter found the cost of charging to be cheaper than anticipated, and 57% considered it to be on par with their expectations.
To facilitate the emission reduction initiative, CBVC Vehicle Management introduced the Driver Vehicle Selection Portal. This portal simplifies the process for company car drivers to choose an electric vehicle by incorporating the latest technology, video reviews, and vehicle trade-up options. Moreover, cash allowance drivers keen on taking advantage of ultra-low Benefit-in-Kind (BiK) electric vehicles have the option of transitioning back into the company car scheme.
CBVC has also leveraged whole-life costs to compile a list of multi-brand vehicles, enabling employees to transition to electric vehicles while simultaneously reducing costs for Europcar. Julie Hayes, the account manager at CBVC, expressed delight in working with Europcar and highlighted the innovative automated selection process that rewards drivers for selecting lower CO2 cars. Additionally, through a multi-bid funding approach, CBVC has demonstrated the value of cost-effective solutions amidst recent price increases.
